It looks exactly like a normal accident to me.
I would guess the car was spun on a motorway or dual carriageway, so it has been 'top and tail'ed.
its got damaged wheels on opposing corners, which also supports the assumption of a spin.
The roof would appear to have been cut off, and possibly the drivers door forced open / removed.
Jeff, axle stands may be as a result of damaged / broken suspension. hitting a kerb at 10mph with some steering lock on will bend things, so doing same at anything approaching 3 figures will certainly make a mess. For example, think back to the RS6 that hit a tree and broke in half...
