Whipped by a Honda Type R

having owned a CTR myself they will easily out brake a S4 as well. I used to keep up no probs with a 240bhp golf 1.8T i used to gain a fair bit in the revs as could hold the gears for longer. I'd say a standard s4 not upto perfect condition could lose to one. A looked after and slightly tweeked ones should be able to hold em off. Even managed 163mph on the clocks on mine on a disused runway fair enough jap speedos not the most accurate though, plus they are too much hard work to drive compared to the S4.

Always a good idea to get your car checked out, I have a rover coupe turbo as well as my audi, this is running 240bhp, FWD and about the same weight as a type R. will only start to pull from civic in 4th gear.

My previous car was a 2000 DC2 Integra Type-R. I sold it for half the price I paid for my S4, and although the S4 is quicker in a straight line (just), honestly, I wish I still had the ITR, it was so much more fun than the S4. It was by far and away the best car I have owned or driven (save for Ferraris and Lambos at driving experience days etc).
It would beat my S4 on any road there was a corner, the handling was absolutely amazing. I have tried to get the S4 to handle better with RS4 suspension and H&R ARB's, but honestly it dosen't touch the ITR. I miss it so much that I am seriously considering putting the S4 up for sale and going back to either a DC2 or getting a Jap import DC5. I thought I wanted a more comfy and refined car, but the S4 has taught me I'm just a boy racer, and the ITR is the best go-cart there is!

My S4 on stage1 remap would murder Civic Type R's and Accord type R's, My mate had both at diffeent times (as he works at Honda Swindon) whilst my car was a stage1. It got the stage that he would not even try.
The S4 is a different car. The Honda's are cheap. Cheap to buy, relatively cheap to own and cheap built. If you want quality, and a car that feels solid, a German marque is the way to go.
The S4 needs to be modded though to bring it into the league it should always have been in. RE the handling, a B7 RS4 centre diff and a decent H&R set-up should be the ticket. Then you have the weight. Take 2/300 kg's out of it and your into a serious machine.
Out of the box the Integra R must be one hell of a machine.

The ITR had fun by the bucket load, get the right gear selected and see if you can find the limits of your front tyres or get the arse to come out a bit. Just so controllable and full of feedback.
I always compare the S4 and ITR as follows: The ITR is a ballerina in the corners, full of poise, delicate, controllable and full of feedback.
The S4 is a bulldozer, numb of feedback and front heavy.
I wish sometimes that I hadn't got rid of it (considering the state its now in as it was sold to a family member who has driven it to death without putting any care or money its way), but downgrading to one car with four doors for the family put paid to that.

both cars are very different,one is a lightweight rollerskate the other a turbocharged steam roller,only trouble with the rollerskate is you need to spend some seious wonga to make it as quick as an s4 has the capability to be,lightweight cars are good fun though,i have a mk1 golf 16v running weber alpha, totally different to an s4 excellent fun though

agreed on the CTR benig quicker than expcted.. we went on a road trip round europe in september, went london - Amsterdam - Nurburgrng - Frankfurt - Swiss Alps - Home. We took my S4 and a 52 plate Civic Type R.
We found it to be pretty comparible to mine upto about 100 ish then i'd leave him behind. I'm stock apart from a bipipe and other minior tweaks (see my sig) nothing power related. Can't really compare our experiences at the Ring as He'd never driven it before so was going easy.
One thing's for sure though, the CTR certainly makes a heck of a noise going through swiss alps tunnels!!

Can't comment on the track aspect - but as for "the real world" (as you put it) my S4 regularly and consistently annihilates Honda type R's and MG ZS's on the "real road" .... seems that 430bhp and 500ftlb does mean something there ...
Go buy a German car and learn how to introduce yourself on a forum properly without making yourself look like a complete tit.
