First service costs

Judder on full lock is normally a "feature" of high performance cars. As you apply lock the wheel cambers over and the tyre ends up running right on its shoulder (appply full lock, then get out of the car and look at how far the wheel leans over). As the tyre moves around the circle it pushes sideways against the shoulder tread-blocks of the tyre. These tread blocks flex as far as they can, and then spring back into shape, causing that shudder. Almost all Porsches do this, and the RS4 does it exactly the same. Obviously the type of tyre and road ruface make a difference to how noticable this "feature" is.

Basically, it's normal......

My first AVS1 was free! Part of the deal in buying my RS plus new tyres. But I did ask locally and stealers would charge £310 IIRC.

Well, this was also in the first post and was what I was replying too. Though I have just seen the other thread, so I might go and add this in over there too

Others things being looked at are a leaking boot lid, funny noise and feel in the steering at full lock/slow speed and poor performance when cold for the first couple of miles - all of which have been noted by many others on here.

Well at just over 6k DIS says I need a service in 2 days or 4000 miles!!!!
Mostly all short journeys for me and then over xmas I was driving into work each day as the trains were shafted so the computer seems to have gone a bit weird!

Just rung around a few dealers and the diff in price for the simple oil, filter and check first service is incredible: - Nearest £390 then 10 miles further away £345 and then 40 miles up the A12 £265!!! Labour at the dearest one is £103 PH plus VAT - daylight robbery me thinks?

Out of principal I may well just drive up the A12 to get this done and have a nice blast whilst I am at it.

Uuummmm that seems good ...mine was more, but I had a plastic bag stuck on one of the cats ... now when I jump out of the car, it smells like I have been on a race track for a hour, when in fact I have not ..... I am trying to see which super market logo is on the bag so I can sue them ...LOL

Why not use a non main dealer if theres no rules to say you have to, other than they must be VAT registered.

Anybody got any more prices on first service costs for variable milage intervals?

Been quoted £350, "about" £400, and £420 so far from 3 dealers.

Seams a wide spread. Anybody in the Manchester area had a 1st service recently that can supply a comparative quote?

just had mine done - it was £215 at Wimbledon Audi

seemed very good to me although it was only an oil change and oil filter

but not pollen filter and other bits as my car has only done 8k miles

Ahem - just paid £520 for a first service and brake fluid change at 15k Thought it seemed a bit steep - off to check invoice!

Just paid £515 for first service (well company did!) - pretty steep for an oil change and pollen filter.
Included fuel and oil additive - £10.00 each , any ideas? and 7 lots of lube??? ooowww errrr

They have ordered a new RNS-E for me , as mine does not keep its volume setting when switched off and then back on - comes on at a fixed volume.

still can't believe how cheap mine was (SW London is one of the most expensive places in the country usually)

breakdown was:

60 labour (so presumably 30-40 mins)
21 oil filter
76 8 litres of SLX longlife 3
27 two wiper blades
2 plug and washer
32 VAT
218 total

gutted in a way as I am not paying (on FCM plan) but that makes me a little suspicious although the dealer gets the money from VW Finance and their money is as good as mine

has anyone else had a lowish miles 1st service and is this all they did?

Newcastle Audi quoted £310 for 1st variable service, less £145 if you supply the oil.

Exactly what I was quoted. What I would say caldy is if you do have to book your car in for a service, give me a shout. I have a mate who is an Audi tech and Tyneside Audi who I would implicitly trust to do the work on my car and would recommend to you.
