Calling all webdesigners and business men...we need you

Post by B7B7B7 » Wed Jan 09, 2008 3:19 pm

Ladies and Gents, Me and 'Hobsons4' are pondering with the idea of setting up a business 'website based' for online car tuning ( dont wanna say 2 much as it would spoil our ideas. lol)

Wanted to no:

* How much time and effort would have to be put in to create a webite
* What kind of marketing tips and tricks would we need to encourage people to view (and spend money of course) on our pages + to get people advertising on it.
* Will we need any insurance of any description
* what other fees and cost would we encounter if we set up the site as a business rather than a hobby??/
* How easy is webspace to get hold of (and a webaddress)

Prob missed loads of stuff off but If you have any thing to add, anything would be greatly appriciated.

Cheers all,
Scott

There's many possible issues with the cost - it depends what you want your website to do. If it's only holding static data to serve, then you're looking at web design cost only. If you're looking at having it interact with the customer, then it'll get more expensive to host it. Likewise bandwidth will cost, and more complex server setups will also set you back more, up to the cost of putting machines in data centres.

The time and effort for creating a website depends on how complex you want it, but if you can draw a template on paper, and then have a page or a "how to build a page" set of thoughts, then you're thinking like a web designer and you can drastically drop the effort required.

I'm available by PM if you want to talk further about what you want the site to do.
