I'm not getting any!

Post by D10DON » Mon Jan 07, 2008 9:36 pm

All my local shell stations have run out of V Power, that is Shell Hook and Shell Claygate. Had to go up to Isleworth today, none at Shell Gillette Corner.

Anyone else not getting any?

I was on fumes so put in £10 of standard shell unleaded, handbook says this is ok with 95 RON but can cause a slight loss of power under unfavourable conditions. 91 RON can be used as an emergency measure.

Is Shell standard unleaded 95 RON?, i know, should have checked when i was there!

Premium (normal) in the UK is 95. Most supers are 97.

is it me or do less petrol stations stocking super unleaded now?

Ive had the same thing over the christmas break, tried 3 petrol stations in surrey whilst i was down there (twickenham, cobham and i forget the where its called but near esher) before i had any luck with Vpower, and also the same thing in newcastle last sunday no V-power ended up putting Esso supreme or whatever they call it in.

Hope they get some V-power back soon!

cheers Rob

Had a few problems getting VPower last week, I put in a small amount of 95RON to last a few days then fortunately on Friday night I managed to get some VPower.

I asked the chap at the counter why there was a lack of VPower and he said that they'd merely run out of it . . . sounds a bit iffy to me if there's a general lack of it around the country.

Tesco's 99 for me! You get two chocolate flakes in it as well as diesel and other assorted liquids according to recentish problems.

Still its local and the price is less unbearable than the others!!

Who was it that brought up the incident when they tested two Saabs on a rolling road and the lower octane fuel made more bhp on a standard Vauhall 9-3 turbo... Oh sorry Saab 9-3 turbo?

Something to do with ethanol being used to get RON up but having less enegy than petrol.... It was a fuel company stand at a motor show I recall... anyway they swapped the cars over on the dyno's, then the fuel and found out the above was the case.... urban myth maybe but I rember it from somewhere!
