So how does a 500bhp RS4 beat a 600bhp RS4?.. it's physics mate.. unless were talking new gearbox's or some other magic???

Maybe the boost on the 600bhp monster comes in later?

Would be interested to know... mind you 0.2 sec is not a lot, we're talking a blink of an eye lid

Well,

Hohenester Sport is a well known company in Germany. I think they have been doing VAG and racecars for almost 20 years. They are also registrered as a car builder, like Brabus and Alpina.

My RS4:a has been modified by ACE Competition in Sweden, a reseller of Hohenester Sport. The kit on my car is: New turbo-back stainless steel exhaust with race cats, a very nice reprogramming of ECU and also, of course, new exhaust manifold and turbo. Some other things had also been done but i keep them for myself.... On the dyno the car is delivering 472hp/7050 rpm with 1,45 bar. The setup today is 1,6 bar and it should be around 500hp.

0-100 4,13 seconds
80-140 3,1 seconds
0-200 12,8 seconds(can do better, that´s for sure)

See you in the mirror!
Best regards
/Henke

Me thinks youre running too much boost and the engine/turbos will give up soon, i suggest reducing yoy boost to 1.4 bar and intoducting bigger Intercoolers and water cooling system to increase the power... but keep the BHP at 500
Just a thought.. thats all

The boost is not too high. Chargers can more but for gearbox and engine, 500hp is max. Larger intercoolers is not nessasary because the intake temp is very good.(low)

Keep in mind that Hohenester Sport has almost 20 years of experience building race cars

Wahts the maximum recommended boost for the engine then, assuming I want it to last more than 3 miles

Bushy, whats the AMD map boost level?

have read somewhere that the 500bhp mtm is slightly faster than the 600bhp mtm upgrade in the 0-100, 0-200 times just because the smaller turbo's spin up quicker once the 600bhp jobbie gets his legs it comes onto its own,

recall john at anglesey yours had the lowdown grunt over andy's

Very good point Steve, the MTM600's turbos are larger than standard and will therefore take longer to spool once the boost kicks in. I essence this takes a higher torque peak but moves it down the rev range slightly.

At Anglessey John's car was far quicker than mine out of the slow corners - but this was more boost orientated than size of turbos (they are the same size, except mine have been gasflowed). The MTM458 overboost peaks at 1.7bar, then settles down to around 1.45bar I believe, whereas the Sportec RS460 peaks and stays at 1.4bar. I dont think John has had any problems with this setup, and maybe Henke's setup is similar ie peak over-boost then settling down. You can see this on the torque plots I posted here

Henke, it would be interesting to see any rolling road plots you may have to compare to the MTM/AmD and Sportec ones.

A rolling road plot is here: http://gallery.rs246.com/cgi-bin/album. ... s4dyno.gif Have fun!

How big/type of the MTM 600hp turbos?

Good results Henke

Nice and smooth torque and bhp curves (1kW=1.4bhp approx) for 1.45bar. Do you think running at 1.6bar affects the torque characteristics @4000rpm more so than the bhp @6000rpm?

I believe the MTM600 uses K16 turbos rather than the K4's, supposedly good to flow 350bhp per turbo, if you can flow the air and fuel to the maximum. Problem is the MTM600 is probably losing 8 to 10% of it's power potential thru too much heat. Still trying to find a rolling road plot for one of these as I dont know if it's a true 600bhp that should be 650bhp, or a 540bhp that should be 600bhp - if you know what I mean - especially running over 2.3bar Also be interesting to know if the ECU (albeit mapped differently) and injectors are OEM along with the compression ratio.

I read somewhere that the compression ration is changed from9.0:1 to 8.5:1, this is done by machining and a thicker head gasket

The injectors are replaced and a second fuel pump added

Boost is 1.6 with 2.0 of over boost
Can't beat a bit of boost!
