(DRC) revamped shocks
(DRC) revamped shocks
Hi All
Just been to hatfield Audi to have my car checked over and the DRC has gone again (4th time over 5000 miles).
I have been told by hatfield Audi that AUDI have changed the design of the RS6 shocks as of 2 months ago......Is this true?
They have also stated that they have put this new design shocks on two RS's already and they have had no problems so far.
Cheers
Baz

You mean they've lasted a whole two months?bazza wrote:

RE: Re: (DRC) revamped shocks
Rob at Camberley Audi mentioned that they now had to fit a small rubber gaiter to keep dirt out (or oil leaks in??) - but he certainly didn't say anything about a different shock - and I'm certain he would have mentioned it given that we had a long chat re the delays in supply etc.
I suspect that all Hatfield are talking about is a bit of rubber...

RE: Re: (DRC) revamped shocks
Audi dosent tell their techs or anyone else in a position to know when or if they redesign a part. From what I have been able to learn, the cost for a redesign of such a relatively small number of shocks would not be cost effective..believe it or not. Now if it was the A4 which has sold thousands and thousands, then they probably would.
On another note, I have been told by a reliable source that Audi had put together a kit that will enable the dealers to repressurize the central valves in house so this will cut the cost of repairs by half if not more.

if this is true, then elsawin or ekta would have it as a running change. anyone got a new update?
i heard from a tec at croydon audi that the gaiter has been redesigned to stop grit getting in and scoring the moving bits , which caused the leaks ?

I've had this - unconfirmed - theory now from another dealer. This is apparently the reason why they can't actually place orders for new shocks at the moment. I've been waiting for over two weeks and still no delivery date.

I hope new ones last longer than the last ones 200 miles.
Did they arrive? If so, was there a modification?
My car has just been diagnosed as needing 4 shocks / 2 valves and all on backorder!
Waiting on warranty company / inspection now and advise of parts delay
After three weeks of trying, by two dealerships, Swindon have finally managed to obtain one pair of rear dampers for my car. They are still in short supply.
I am told that the reason for the difficulty is simply due shortage of parts at Audi UK - because demand has been much higher than forecast - and not because the part has been redesigned at Audi AG.
I'll get them fitted in the next few days and check the part numbers. If there has been a redesign, the information is being kept secret from dealers.
Cheers, Graham
