M3 - Replacement for my S4 Avant

Post by Joshie » Fri Aug 29, 2003 4:36 pm

After loads of time searching the internet and phoning dealers I have confirmed my order for a new M3 coupe , fully loaded, which will be available mid-September (cancelled order).

I can hear the purists among you groaning but at the end it really only came down to two cars, the other being the new S4. Test drives apart I was taking quite a bit of flak from her indoors about the "M" word......modifications and Monica and I know that I would have been digging deep for the Milltek and the remap within weeks. And then the brakes, oh yes and not to forget those suspension mods.

So please don't me for my decision guys and I look forward to seeing the trackday and meet regulars very soon .

BTW I still plan to contribute as much as I can to this community too and I still have the A3 1.8T - feeble excuse, I know .

Ian,

I'm sure we can dig up plenty of ideas for modding your M3!

As long as you're happy with your choice that's what counts. However I wonder how those family holidays will go now with a 2-door car with not a lot of boot space?

Please spend some time on a BMW forum and let us know what it's like...

Thanks guys
Phil - just been browsing the BM3W site it's very similar to this one - they are very BMW focussed and think their BM's are the best thing since sliced bread in the same way we think of Audi's.

This is where my home is tho'

Dave E - Family hols in the car are a thing of the past mate

Dave T - what are you planning then?

We are currently on the same server as BM3W, BM5W, and VX220... Matt has done some impressive work on the sites above and built a strong community.

So I suppose we could say that you've popped next door for a cup of tea.

Not sure really. Low mileage RS4 or M3 are the favourites, but I am not in a rush, I'd need to sell my car as the trade in price from the dealers is a no no.

You're not kidding Dave. I walked out of a showroom on Tuesday as soon as he gave me the offer . I didn't even say goodbye
I knew my expectations would be low, but I felt insulted.
£4k less than I've got finance on it!

As a founder member (and moderator) of BM3W I can confirm that it is a great car loving community (as per RS246 as well)and is a credit to those involved in the running the site. Joshie you'll love the M3 and your time on BM3W, Welcome!

I'm just about to get my M3CSL on the road this Monday and can't wait to hear that wail of the induction system

Then after about 6 months (maybe )I'm getting a S4 avant to be foolwed by a S4 cab next summer-so keeping a foot in both the RS246 and BM3W camps

Thanks Gareth,

Actually I got some great advice yesterday from BM3W and as a result I've cancelled my order for the Steel Grey model and luckily sorted a new Titan' Silver M3 with a good spec, satnav, HK HiFi etc and I'll take delivery in September.

Interesting Phil about the different communities sharing the same server - you learn something new every day.

Are you going to have all three cars at the same time, or are you just someone who changes cars ever 6 months?

Dippy

Would love to have an S4 avant and the CSL but would need to free some major capital up to do that....robbing a bank or winning the lottery would help as well!

I tend to change cars every 3-6 months and hate waiting for them so need to plan way ahead

Have several more BMW's on order (Z4M/M5 saloon and touring/M3 GT etc) over the next 3 years, each to replace whatever is the current car. Would really like to retain the M3CSL though as it's a very special car indeed.

Would a M3CSL be welcome at the next RS246 meet in Windsor?

Joshie

Glad you got a good M3 sorted, look forward to seeing you at future BM3W meet (or a RS246 meet of course).

Likewise.

Looking forward to hearing how you 'balance the books' keeping cars for 3 to 6 months. Presemably you make money in the process, particularly on models like the CSL
