What a load of tosh.
Having driven my B5 on wet, icy roads today I'd be in a hedge in the :piss: M3 and the Merc

If it was wet, it would have been a different story.........

Have heard that the Russian Dude is banned on other forums, please don't ban him from here, its my daily entertainment.
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

...as it often is in the real world, motoring journalists seem to have an aversion to relating to the real world which involves commuting from Buckingham to Aylesbury (or for russian dudes benefit, Novgorod to Moscow) on an icy Monday morning rather than laps of a spanish circuit in late summer.

They didn't exactly say it was rubbish so I wouldn't be annoyed if I owned one but why include the RS4 when it's no longer available to purchase new?

Exactly - i would suggest as it redefined the 'benchmark' when it was released.

Yea i was gutted that is did not win, but as said above, its over 2 years old and is not on the production like any more!

Also is was only 1 second behind the merc and that has 45bhp more!...so not that bad really!
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

Yeah it seemed almost pointless to me to put an out of production, 2 year old car against 2 new cars and end up summising the other 2 were slightly better.

Besides they were wrong!

Its nice to know we've all got bigger knobs though.

I wonder....if you took an average of dry and wet times around the same track (a la Autocar) which car would generate the lowest average?

Sure enough the RS4 kicks ass if that is the benchmark.

And thats what its all about...making the best progress in a range of conditions, with a boot large enough for some bags and a snowboard, with an interior that isn't all alcantara and tubular aluminium, that can seat four, has some toys, and won't generate ludicrous oversteer every time you hit the loud pedal....

I watched the show last night and agree with everything previously posted, but look where they were testing these car's, on a dry racetrack in Spain. Which car out of the 3 would you rather be driving on UK roads at this moment? I'll answer for you :greyrs4: :greyrs4: :greyrs4:
It makes the review totally void(like every other performance car review Top Gear do) because they have these car's out on a track, sure it shows what they can do but it's unrealistic , I don't know about you guy's but my RS4 never goes on a track and I'm sure most RS4's don't ever see a track, the review should have been done out on the public roads, then I'd like to have seen the results. Just my two pence worth, Hope you all have a great Christmas.

very dissapointed , they basically put the rs4 in to make the numbers up and clarkson and hammond wernt really interested in it, too busy drooling over the merc and bm ,probably as the rs4 is 2 years old!

they then handed it to that areshole james may, who made the whole test look stupid measuring windsceen wipers etc , soon as he arrived " oh the captains here, in an audi" etc etc

still good lap time against the merc, but dare i say it...the m3,s really growing on me :) but not as much as the new rs6

It was good entertainment last night, the review that is. I had a feeling the RS4 wouldn't fair well because like most motor journalists it doesn't offer tail out wag happy seat of the pants antics. However fair play to the Stig getting the RS sideways in a few corners. As for the sprint May appeared to have mechanical sympathy and was upshifting early, hence why he wasn't hetting the power out of the RS.

The better test like some have suggested would have been the Isle of Man test like they did with AMV8 vs Carerra vs M6. in the same conditions. Like said it would have made mincemeat of the C63 and be on a par if not better than the M3.

However I will maintain I'd love to have all 3 in my garage. And as for Clarkson comments on rear leg space, get Recaro Sports seats rather than the buckets and then you'll have no issues.

I was quite pleased with the outcome because none of them slagged off the RS but the merc & M3 took some flak( Hammond vs Clarkson). I bought the RS because my wife said I had to have a Safe & Sensible!!! car even Hammond said it was a nice place to be when driving it with the added safety of 4 wheel drive. We all know the outcome would be different if the track was wet.
If I wanted a car for track use I would buy an ariel atom. However having said that I still could make space in my garage for the merc & M3 which are great cars(once a petrolhead always a petrolhead).
