In Aberdeen en route home to Shetland at the weekend in my new Avus RS4 which I picked up in July. Covered 1500 miles in 4 weeks on the mainland including 2 weeks in Sutherland & Ross & Cromarty.

Photos not close up as the car was getting pretty grubby by the time I took these photos.

The RS4 follows BMW(E46) M3 (SMG) & M3 (E46 CS version) them BMW Z4M coupe. Early thoughts are that RS4 has awesome performance useable in a wider range of weather conditions than the BMWs. Not quite as entertaining as rear wheel drive.

Brakes are better, gearchange much better, Doesn't bunny hop (as all S54 engined cars I have driven seem to), inerior finish & materials better (particularly in comparison to Z4MC). Fuel consumption a bit worse.

Just got brochures in the psot for new M3 out of interest I specced up car to similar spec to mine & it would cost £6k more (I got a discount which I wouldn't expect on an M3 for a year or so.

Bought my Misano red RS4 saloon in Aug, sounds great and goes like the brown stuff off of a tefflon shovle. If I go for a run its normally up to Breamar on the A93 or accross to Pitlochry great roads. Any one up for a coffee somewhere some time ?

Hi Boyers,

I did the swap last week, and i am really happy I did. My RS doesnt have a few of the goodys that the M3 had, but the engine and drive make up for it ten fold. Took the M3 to the Nurburgring last year and had sooooo much fun, and i cant wait to see how much better the RS is round there!!

Anyone taking there cars to the ring next year out of interest??

Im from Aberdeen (B.O.D). I have a daytona grey saloon with smoked glass (just had to get front ones de-tinted though  ). Where were you planning buying the missano red one from? Not Aberdeen Audi i hope, lol.

I am now a happy RS4 owner but i had a great drive to Ayr from Manchester to a wedding a few years back in my S2. Funnily enough the car came from that part of Scotland and was serviced at Ingram Audi.
