How about a separate thread with a poll once the discussion in here has been exhausted? (easier than trying to wade back through all the posts in here)

Once this thread has run for a while we'll be posting more threads to collect numbers and then deposits etc. For now we just need to talk about what people want out of an event.

This is a large commitment for RS246 with a fair amount of activity in the background and we all hope to make it work.

Be assured that if plans proceed as hoped this will be an event to remember at a top class location. :)

More ideas :-

How about some attendance from Audi? A display with some of the latest RS models for example? and/or hot laps in such a beast (a V10 R8?)

I'm sure the likes of Audi Driver would like to pop down and maybe feature the event?

This sounds like a great idea guys. It'd be nice to be able to do the top speed, track etc and have the family having fun too. Guess I'd need a skid lid? Presumably insurance would be available on the day? Don't forget food/drinks n loos! It's thirsty work, and I don't wanna have to do a Stig special (aka a Stigy). ;-)

Insurance would need to be arranged by the individual for your car , if you want it.

We'll be looking after getting all the other requirements in place.

Not sure about moving to the announcements part of the screen - does anyone ever look there??

Maybe I'm stoopid, but I've just spent 5 mins trying to find the bloody thing...

My personal views;

1) Top Speed runs on a long runway. - as said previously, unless it's a loooong runway, what's the point.

2) 0-60, 0-100 & 1/4 mile timing & possibly braking tests. - yes, but not fussed about the braking bit - wears tyres down faster then the drag run!

3) Autotest / Handling course combined, set out with cones, with the 'reversing into a pretend garage' part. - Not my cup of tea, prefer to have a free run of part of the autodrome for 15mins, maybe with a water bowser to wet the track if needed??

4) Tracktime / Sprint. It could be either, depending on what people want. The sprint is one car at a time, so potentially more accessible for first timers. - Good one, maybe difficult if 60 cars all want a go (unless it's a 24hr event!)

5) Show & shine / concours running throughout the day, with an awards for best ‘new’ car and best 'classic'. - maybe invite a few of the site trader detailers along?

6) Evening Meal/Awards at a nearby location for a sit down meal, presentation of awards, general good laugh and maybe a drink or two. Overnight accommodation obviously available . - or a BBQ and tents??

Sounds like a fantastic idea, I'd be up for it.

High-speed run would be good on a long strip as would the various timed runs/brake tests.

I'm not entirely sure our cars are suited to auto-testing but I guess it'd prove interesting.

Nige's idea of detailers who sponsor the site doing their bit on the concours/show & shine is spot-on.

Evening meal sounds like a great idea, perhaps tie this in with a preferred hotel to work a special rate . . ?

So far then we're getting a promising response. :) Anything else we've missed?

The venue should be fine for all events we've posted so you can be sure it'll work out fine.

Sprint is high on my list to get people interested in. Depending on the length of the circuit we may not need the track to only have 1 car on it at a time. We'll have marshals and could just sent the cars off at decent intervals.

Site sponsor detailer??? You'll have to find us one of them :?

I have a hotel in mind and once the main event is a go we'll be straight on to them :)

Paz - I'm hoping you'll be bringing your camera also ;)
