RS246 Live!

Post by Andiroo » Mon Dec 10, 2007 10:45 pm

We are discussing the possibility of arranging a summer event for all users, including friends/family and kids, with a wide range of driving activities to appeal to most, which above all else is fun and safe.

This event will be held at a central UK location, probably on a Saturday or Sunday, in May, June or July.

The proposed events for the day are as follows;

1) Top Speed runs on a long runway.

2) 0-60, 0-100 & 1/4 mile timing & possibly braking tests.

3) Autotest / Handling course combined, set out with cones, with the 'reversing into a pretend garage' part.

4) Tracktime / Sprint. It could be either, depending on what people want. The sprint is one car at a time, so potentially more accessible for first timers.

5) Show & shine / concours running throughout the day, with an awards for best ‘new’ car and best 'classic'.

6) Evening Meal/Awards at a nearby location for a sit down meal, presentation of awards, general good laugh and maybe a drink or two. Overnight accommodation obviously available .

These events are intended to be ideal for anybody who wants to use their car safely for track type activities, but finds the VMAX, Santa Pod & trackdays a little bit daunting and OTT.

We welcome any comments you have on the above idea, including any suggestions you may have on the format itself - especially any other events/entertainment we could include that would make it a better day for you, your friends and family.

Costs for this day are subject to confirmation but likely to be in the between £125 and £175 for car & driver, £ 10 per spectator & £ 20 for spectators vehicles. We will need approx 60 car for this to be viable depending on the venue, and obviously some hands-on help on the day itself.

Hope you guys think this is a good idea and we look forward to your support in making this happen

Cheers,

RS246 Crew.

OMG......... He has OD'd on the Lemsip, :nodder: Maybe we could count on your input as the representative of the 'outer circle'.... No seriously Clive, we do want to do something that everybody feels they can join in with, its seriously disheartening to organise events that in the past have been so popular, ( Donny two years ago had 90 plus attendees, even with a big bonfire half way up the M1)) only to be told after the event that they couldnt get there due to the time of year. Hope you feel better soon, this current flu (man-flu) is not nice.

Absolutely hilarious!

Well, it seems to be more effective cure than your Affable Pills...

No seriously Simon, I'm sure this sort of event would see a good turnout and attract a wider spectrum of the membership

(were there really 90 of us at Donnington 2 years ago...?)

We had 100 RS4 promotion packs, and Audi Uk were quite strict about giving them out to each person so I think 90 was the figure quoted. Certainly were 38+ S and RS and two Porsches and Lotus on track from the forum and plenty more in the pits and carpark. Jan Becker also took 38 passengers on Hot Laps with quite a few complaining when he had to stop due to it getting dark.

Looks ok. You have most things covered. Maybe the odd bouncy castle or something like that to entertain kids after being dragged round cars for hours on end!!

Depends on how many want to bring families. I'd like to bring the wife and 5yr old.

It's just trying to get everything for everyone at a reasonable price to keep all pockets happy. It all adds up if you want to have the day, meal and room etc...

Yes Andy, I think the format looks excellent and should attract a good crowd

(I know we don't have members, well except when we win an award for the Best Club... )

Thanks Mike, bouncy castles (the tied down ones that don't blow away) will certainly be considered for the kids - good idea mate

Clive, point taken mate :D . I agree, think this day could be an absolute hoot for everyone :beerchug:
