I don't get this thread - sidelights are <beep> regardless of the bulb type used - when turned on they only serve to make your presence more noticable to other drivers relative to cars with side lights off. They're not there to illuminate the drivers forward view.

The level of ambient light intensity at which different sidelight bulbs become noticably better than one another to an observer is the level of ambient light at which you should be using your main lights anyway. Innit.

I totally agree with the above, and I will only be doing the LED mod with regards to asthetics, i.e. to match the light colour closer to the Xenons.

(emphasis is mine).

Agreed wholeheartedly - these are effectively running lights. They don't illuminate enough to see by, and nor do Hallogen, HID, or icandescent sidelights. They're also sometimes called "city lights" by americans, as they're used to show position, but not bother to switch on hte beams for seeing with, because there's plenty of street lgihting about.

Yep - that's the only reason I did it.

I did it becuseI like the LED lights for non-high-output applications. They're relatively cheap, and have a longish lifetime. Except when hot, of course.

Fitted mine, easy peasy. I took some photos with my phone but they're a bit crap and I can't really be bothered to get my SLR out.

I agree with the above though and imolas4uk.

More white LEDS ftw :)
