K & N Air Filters

Post by nhr2123 » Sat Dec 01, 2007 2:43 pm

Any views out there on whether K & N air filters are worthwhile for the RS6 vs audi standard filters?

Thanks for that. Just had price from Audi and they actually seem quite reasonably priced. I used to have a Merc E55 and the K&N's were significantly cheaper than the standard AMG parts!

That said - with a turbo car would the K&N not improve performance for a relatively modest outlay? Or are the audi ones just as good as far a airflow is considered?

K&N use a thin oil to trap the dirt in their filters. There have been many cases reported of this oil heating up and being sucked into the MAF's causing them to need replacement. Stock air filters are fine altho you might want to seal the gaps around the front intakes (the ones in the front grill) if they are letting hot air in from the engine bay.
