sports exhaust adds nothing other than noise so makes bugger all difference (according to Porsche)

that said it would be first option box ticked if I was buying a n/a 911

Gents

my first post on this forum (so please be gentle), as just sold my 997 for an RS4.

I'm not surprised 997 was as quick as the RS4 away from the lights, it's an awful lot lighter. But wait till you get onto the twisties - the 997, with all the weight at the back can really be a handul, and does not give much warning.

I had a play yesterday with a porsche 997 4S, after leaving him on several occations he waved me down and took my number, he wants to buy my car next year when I am due a change. :beerchug: , Strange we spent about an hour chatting and he loved the condition and performance of the RS4 I have. :boots:

I used to have no problems with B7RS4's in my 996TT, mind you it wasn't standard :D

As for 'standard' 997's, I'd say there's not enough difference in them to worry about, both good at what they do, just in different ways..

997TT, different league, not just performance but remember its a £100k+ car!!!

R10, now thats the one to compare to ;-)

Totally agree with you, I'd be more than confident of being there or there abouts with pretty much any 911 in my RS4 especially in anything but perfectly dry summer weather (and that doesn't happen much where I live) or on an unfamiliar road.

Its funny how your perceptions change though. It's easy to use the, 'yeah but the 911 is 100k+ argument', but a good evo with mods would be up there, would deffo corner better than a 911 or an RS and would be much cheaper. They're built like a corned beef tin though!

If you want straight line speed for runways, get a bike, you'll need a very special car, never mind a 911 / RS to be even close!

I looked at 911's before I bought the Audi and decided that I'd need another car (or small van!) for bikes / kayak / snowboard / golf clubs / friends (!!) etc etc.

Beautiful as they are, a 911 is too compromised imho and the compromises do not offer enough performance gains to be worthwhile.

Well - maybe not any 911! Most normal (unmodded) ones though!
