Now got a 535d Sport which has been DMS'd :lol:

Never going to be as chuckable as the RS4 or even A5 for that matter but a hoot for the motorway commute!

The A5 did not stay long then, how does the 5 series compair power wise.

Powerwise.....if the 535d was standard then there wouldn't be a great deal in it but in DMS form it's plain silly.....I wasn't convinced initially as I'd never really driven a standard 535d much apart from test drives, but having had the odd blast recently and gotten used to it, for a diesel it's in a league of it's own....

Quite laughable really considering the sheer size of the car.....but the way it pulls from 60 to silly 3 figures is just not normal considering it's just a diesel and the consumption has never dropped below 28 when I'm caning it otherwise it's in the 30's all the time....I have seen high 30's but my right foot just won't allow it!

This was a car I seriously considered before the RS4 and as much as I loved the RS and still do :bowdown: , but this just gives me the best option for now with it's ease of commuting use(quiet/quick/sheer comfort), size for the kids, gadgets galore and less frequent BP trips....

Well put and the fuel price vs economy must have an influence as well, good luck with it. :D

I've now had my RS for 2 months and as sceptical as I was when I owned my S4 that the RS was better, I can say that it is. It helps that I have changed from saloon to Avant, the ride is more compliant, the brakes are better even though I had done the RS4 brake upgrade on my B6 and the fuel economy is the same.

The downsides are that I'm pretty sure the RS doesn't have as usable torque band as my S4 and certainly doesn't have as much low down grunt, it compensates by being more rev happy. The noise, albeit it sublime, is a little quiet for me so a non resonated valved cat back Milltek may be on the cards at some point. But since I have had it I've had someone shunt me so the rear has had to be repaired and because of the attention attracts, some of it has been less positive and the car has been keyed on the nearside front wing which to repair properly is going to need a respray. And I swear Sprint blue is harder to keep clean than black!

Besides that I'm glad I have made the transition.

One thing I have noticed about my current motor, is that Silver Grey as a colour looks fab clean or dirty! as I found myself cleaning the RS every week as it was in Phantom black.....

Don't want to be Anti Audi here but if you ever need a motor that is a compromise for the RS4 for fuel/comfort/toys etc then I can recomend it wholeheartedly....

For me really the RS4 is good enough to be a weekend car which is where I thought the Porsche/Lotus used to be but it really has come on that much!!

A chipped A5 3.0TDI will give 290/295 BHP and very low 5's 0-60
It should be a real flyer with the up coming auto box.
