The R8 engine is different to the RS4 engine in many ways, you should only compare like for like.

R8, rear engine, dry sumped, different intake, different maps etc etc

Mine seems to go like a train when I ask it to; I had a Porsche 911 4s come past me slow down and want to play, I droppped to 3rd and blasted him into at least 250 yard gap before letting him go, his face :(

I had to laugh :kissmyrings:

at 323 bhp I was not impressed you are right!! I will get another done on a different RR and see how the mood takes me, I like the car, it ticks a lot of boxes for me... not sure where I will go with the results...

Just to clarify 2 points.

The tale of woes and the following actions that were taken were a chosen route, no one has to do this if they don't want to, it was a personal choice as I do not like being mislead, and at £50k+ it too much to ignore.

Like you Jason I loved the car, it did everything for me but couldn't live with knowing that it probably would never be what I had expected or paid for.

Again, please note this was this car and all cars are different, I am just emparting my story and knowledge as I do believe there is a wider issue.

I took Renault to court over something similar with two different cars and it cost me sh*t loads of money and my pride was dented somewhat when i had to pick the bast*rd car up from them 6 months later.
I knew i was right but proving it turned out to be somewhat costly, so dont think a dealer/manufacturer will back down that easily.
I doubt a manufacturer will want to lose money over anything if they can afford not to, no matter how rich they are. They will have done a risk/cost assessment of the entire situation with multiple forecast outcomes and chose the route that would lose them the least amount of money. That DOESN'T mean that they believe they would have lost the case had it gone to court. What probably helped is that the (now ex) RS4 owner has bought several audis previously and has an order on the forthcoming RS6. If I had such a loyal customer, I'd want to keep him/her sweet too as in the long run, I'm bound to make money from him/her rather than lose it.

I would imagine this is the first case of its type relating to the B7 RS4 which has actually been taken to audi. I would have absolutely no doubt that if audi get a whiff of this turning into something bigger they will do their utmost to fight it in court to the bitter end...and I wouldn't bet against them winning. Again, it is about what the consequences would mean for the entire model line-up and their business/reputation in general.

In reality, most people, even if they believed their car was slightly (or very) underpowered, just wouldn't take it further as they will fear losing much more money (and enduring hassle) from the whole affair even if they were to win. Their safest bet would just be to move on.

I do take my hat off to people who take these things further on the other hand and think it is quite admirable that this owner fought for what they believed was true.

Hi all. Dyno tests are important but how about 0-100kmh times? Has anyone done a comprehensive test if the RS4 is able to meet the claimed times? I've seen one or two posts on this but nothing too conclusive.

Cheers!

Jason,

It sounds more like the Dyno Dynamics road you were using hadn't been calibrated properly having read the TMS RR Day thread. If you saw a lot of movement from your car on the rollers you could suffer up to 25% transmission loss which would explain you power loss. If VAG-com was not showing any faults on your car I would tend to suggest this would be the problem rather than purely your car. Also, are you runnng your RS on 98/99 RON?

Mine ran 393-5 hp on 95 ron, estimate a possible 2-3% power loss.

I had movement when mine was RR but it made no difference to the max hp/Tq figures. If it only made 323 bhp then i would get it RR elswhere.

Just a wild shot in the dark here, but I am going to guess at - go on RS246 and have a bloody good whine about it

what i want to explain is that i want what i pay for...
RS4 is an expensive car, i want all the 420hp.
and i want them with 98oct. fuel not with rocket mixture.
i want all my hp with standard temperature 20/25C
at 30/35c RS4 is a dead car :(
yes exactly!

where I live we pay insurance and tax according to hp

if you pay for 420 hp you want 420 real hp! or more!
