Just got in and im shattered. Didnt manage to stay long but looked like all were having a good time apart from mr tt driver :( Cheers dave for finding my boost leak i shall be addressing first thing on monday morning. Also nice to put faces to names finally.

So whats the results?

All I saw was a poorly RS4 B7, an awsome sounding M5, the 300C do very well :D and the ever present TT make a noise!

A big thanks for DavidT for his time and effort for the day.

Well my standard-ish S4 mustered-up a decent 269.9 BHP - 340 Ft/lb at the crank which they translate to 198.4 BHP - 262 Ft/lb at the wheels.
I'm pretty happy with that :)

Mods (aside from the chassis) comprise RS4 clutch, intercoolers c/w APR hoses, APR bi-pipe and an MRC oil cooler.

Was good to meet up with folks again, thanks to DavidT and Neily for their efforts.

Many thanks to DavidT and Thorneymotorsports for another excellent event and another "first" (for me at least) :thumbs:

I'm very pleased with my results and as a minnow will be interested to see how all the big beasts compare against each other. I'll leave others to discuss how accurate or otherwise the figures were but mine were what I was hoping for, so I reckon the results are spot on :wink:

248 bhp and nearly 300 ft lb at the wheels and 322 bhp and about 390 ft lb crank. Thanks MRC :D

And as ever a real pleasure to meet some old and new faces - I look forward to more meets in the future.

a great day as expected..i had the most powerful M5 there...391.6 at the crank and 319.1 at the wheels..great day great people and some really great cars..
sorry to see the TT fail on the dyno even though it was showing an impressive 371 on the dyno at the time...
thanks dave for sorting this and for john thorn for opening his doors..and the owner of the burger van can go and spin...

Sorry I missed the last couple of runners. I was REALLY pushing my luck with being late for my daughters birthday party..... :oops: How did Whiskey get on ???

excellent result Neily, and as above, nice to put faces to names. really enjoyed the hospitality although there seems to be a bit of a black hole at Thorney, ChrisS2, H8CAK and my car all suffered from being unable to lock and unlock using the remote, it's working fine again now so very strange.

any news on the TT yet?

Good day. Sorry if I was not chirpy all day but I had a headache from when I arrived at 8:50 to when I left!

Slow start with some running order confusion and technical problems but none the less a good day and I dare say some lessons learnt.

Thanks to everyone, in particular DavidT for organising, Thorney for hosting and the MRC guys for for being on hand to help out.

I was very happy with the results I was seeing an there seemed to be likely differences between the figures being given at the wheels and the engine. Paz's more or less book results (slightly up) for his stock car car with RS4 intercoolers says it all I think.

My results are:

249.1BHP @ the wheels
334BHP engine power
380ftlb torque

Here are both graphs. Due I thuink to the rush at the end, the power at the wheels graph didn't get the scale resized very well. The engine power plot is a little clear and shows a few cariations you cant see on the other plot.

I think mine was the only one in the end... Terrible results, that might only be tweaked a very "Audi embarassing" 323 bhp I will post pics of the plots at some point... We have heard of course that some B7 owners are taking Audi to task over this issue, from a trades description point of view thats almost 100 bhp off what is claimed.... Hhmmmm???

What an excellent, albeit chilly, day. Great to be able to out some more names to faces. Thanks to David T for organising it, John Thorne for throwing open his doors, David Harper for his sterling VAG-Com work and Neil for the filming and photography.

My results:

425 @ wheels
330.5 @ flywheel
542 FtLb's torque
3.46 FATS

I'm happy with the above, was expecting a bit more considering the mods and real world performance. It was interesting, Mihnea logged the intake temps on mine whilst it was on the dyno, and it peaked at over 90 degrees, which he said is ridiculously high due to the fans not being able to get sufficient air over the SMIC's. He reckons lowering the temps to normal levels could easily add 30+ brake. I logged the intake temps on my way home from work on Friday and they never went over 30.

So, some questions:

Did anyone else log any intake temps on their dyno runs, I'd be particularly interested in cars with FMIC's. I'm seriously considering an FMIC, but would want to know that the gains were worth-while in the real world rather than just on the dyno. Has anyone researched this, I guess so.

Does the Thorney wheel-to-flywheel fudge factor take into account losses due to high intake temps, which would be worse for turbocharged cars? I'm guessing not as they would need to log them in the first place.

Like I said earlier, it was a great day, we all enjoyed the good humour, free coffee and Satan's hair, but it would be excellent if we could put the data gathered to good use.

503.8bhp and 525 ft-lb for me. Was hoping for a bit more as I get close to 450g/s on the maf. But it feels fast enough for stock s4 block.

I think all the cars were doing what they should nad the ones that weren't we caould see why they did not do as well.

the correction temperature on the dyno is the air temperature - not the intake temperature.

I did a test with 2 similar tuned S4s - one with FMIC and one with stock s4 SMIC - running the same file - the differnece was 370bhp to 440bhp and intakes were 100+ deg c and 30 deg c (IIRC - there is a post on here) Side By side on teh road there was hardly anything - and intake temps on the car with stock ics wera round 50 deg c max)

Great day chaps, Thanks to DavidT and Thorney for sorting it and the MRC chaps for being there to answer all our questions.

Shame I didn't run mine to show how poor my current map is against the MRC maps...

Well done to Spen for your 499bhp and as shame Whiskey's only managed 515bhp. Be good to hear how it goes when the issues are sorted

Hope the TT doesn't need too much to be sorted, was showing good power before the pop.

Here's to the next event like this. :thumbs:
