Do you mean replacing the DRL's with LED's or having the LED strips like on the S6?

If the former I have seen someone change their DRL bulb with an equivalent but you need to attach resistors and I'm not sure if the excess heat would damage the assembly in the long term.

The R8's LED's are integrated into the headlight unit like the A5, the S6's LED DRL's are actually separate from the highlight unit above the foglights.

I've seen a pic of an A4 with a similar arrangement of LED's to the S6 retrofitted, looked OK.

You'd think that someone or Audi could create a unit to replace the exisiting and would make lots of money from it, I'd go for it!

Just a shame the B8 headlight unit won't fit a B7

Yeah, I know what you mean. I guess someone will make them, it's just a matter of time. There are enough B7s around to make it worth the while.

In the meantime I'll probably just replace the DRL lights with whiter light bulbs. Until there is a proven LED conversion I'm a little hesitant of using LED bulbs and exposed resistors for warranty reasons more than anything else.

Can anyone confirm, categorically, the way the lamp failure detection circuitry operates?

There has been much speculation whether the circuit relies on current detection alone or a combination current detection along directional pulse detection. What we need to know is, if is current what's the min value etc?
There are plenty of suitable high output LED replacements to play with once we know the limits.

somebody posted a pic on here about 6 months ago of a B7 RS4 avant on german plates with led's fitted above the fog lights like a S6.

I liked it but I seem to remember it wasnt that popular.

Im sorry but leds are for fags. It makes it look like your car has make up on. Come on guys the rs4 is a mans car :) . Having said that I wouldnt mind a more xenony type drl.
The leds on the the b8 dont even mirror the lines of the front of the car, just looks like leds for leds sake.
Sorry if any of you stick leds on an rs4 im selling. :D
