Test Driven one today

Post by Contigo » Sat Oct 27, 2007 7:13 pm

It's a great bit of kit. The cabin is just lush inside, the way the controls are angled towards the driver. Very stlish controls and the gaited gear stick does take a bit of getting and it's a really addictive positive change.

I'm well over 6ft and the headroom is excellent. The sports seats are both comfortable and grippy (This one had cream leather interior)

Rear visibility is not too bad and the car is W I D E. Reversing it into a normal sized car parking space is not easy but you definitely need the rear parking sensors. Looking over your shoulder as you park is great as you get another glimpse of the V8 lump that sounds just great. It's a shame that you can't lower the glass partition to hear it even louder and smell the engines fumes :D

The power delivery is pretty much the same as the B7 (what a surprise) and it just keeps on puling to 8k and beyond. Throwing it into a few twisties and there's no hesitation, it's a really sure footed car. I reckon it's the ultimate combination of a cruising car (it will sit at 90mph all day long and you wouldn't even know it) and balls out mentalist track day hero. After driving my touched B5 RS it certainly doesn't make it feel inadequate and It's just missing some extra supercar power. It's quick don't get me wrong but it's not Ferrari, Lambo, Pagani and even M6 quick.

When Audi announce the 5.0L V10 Lambo engine it will hopefully deliver that extra nice touch that this one is just missing.

Enjoy all those of you lucky enough to have got one this year!

Phil

Beautiful piece of machinery, I enjoyed my test drive but too 'revvy' for me and not enough grunt.

Hi Mike

Hope you are well, sorry didn't see the post mate, only just got round to checking now.

Basically I saw Gareth down there at Newbury Audi. He's the Sales Manager. You won't get an unaccompanied I don't think. I know him you see and he came out with me. It went well along the A4 past the halfway house well into three figures!

Doubt you will get one as a courtesy car, they are like rocking horse tish and are in high demand.

Have a good Xmas and Happy New Year to you. Hope to see you all again soon for some more crazy talk.
