Hi people. I have been lookiing at buying a B5 s4 for almost 8 months now and finally decided on a B6 instead. When the wife was checking about insurance she found it is around £300 cheaper for an Rs4. Did you guy's think of a B5 rs4 when you got your S4?
If so, what made you choose the S4?
I know the servicing cost's are cheaper but cost's more fuel wise.
did you choose yours instead of an rs4?
RE: did you choose yours instead of an rs4?
i had a b5 s4 for 2 years and absolutely loved it, i wanted to change it for a b5 rs4 but was put off by the fact that it was an avant and also the age of the car so ended up getting a newer b6 s4 instead.
i'm pleased i was put off however because i think the v8 on the b6 is an absolute masterpiece !

I thought about a B5 RS4 before buying my B6 S4, however the number of OEM B5's around are few and far between. So finding a good condition, un-modified example with some sort of warranty was difficult.
Coupled to potnetial turbo and cam belt replacement costs, the B6 S4 made more economical sensen given manufacturers warranty, chain driven V8 (no cam belt changing required), better engine note and generally a newer and slightly fresher interior.
