The guy seems genuinley very remorseful and has been extremely honest. Could of been any one as we all do it.

I have to say that the biker is very much at fault here too. You have to ALWAYS ride in a way that you can stop within the stretch of the road you can see. It's a no brainer... Problem is, a lot of bikers ride fast, since most people who get into biking are already of the adrenaline junkies set. I think those people in cars would have the same accident rate.

RE: Crikey this will make you think twice
that post isn't about apportioning blame, it's about the thoughts of a normal person who's found guilty of a crime and how he dealt with his time inside. lets not cloud the message with arguements as to who was at fault. the message is that but for the grace of god it could be anyone one of us in that situation.

I absolutely agree - this is a real stop and think moment.
I had a similar accident, though fortunately with less serious consequences, 12 years ago - I pulled out of a junction and simply didn't see the guy on his bike. He was in hospital for 6 weeks, and for the first few seconds I thought I'd killed him. I "got away" with Careless Driving - but it could have been so much more.
Ho hum

They estimated that the biker at the lower speed would of had a couple of seconds to react, the driver insisted it was his fault, his car was still moving when the biker hit in other words the car span into the path of the bike on a blind corner. Its not about that anyway its about 2 ordinary people who for whatever the reasons lives have been turned upside down, the driver has been extremely brave in putting pen to paper about his experience and everyone who has read it has recognised that it could of quite easily been them in the car or on the bike. The point being we all speed and have mad moments on the road these guys just happened to pay a heavy price. Its a good graphic for me to think twice about driving like a knob.
