RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: The ring this weekend
we worked out it could be done on the cheap like this:
Ferry - Dover Dunkerque (Norfolk line) - £60
Petrol (dunkerque - nuburg) - 275 miles - £60 (pesimistic estimation)
Camping @ Camping-am-nurburgring - £11 per night * 2 nights = £22
Food at local cafe's and restaurants (Pinochio's in Adenau is great!) = £30 per day * 2 days = £60
8 laps of The Ring (19 Euro per lap = 152 Euros) - £106
Petrol for your laps (8x14miles = 112 miles) but i'd reckon on a full tank for that - £60
Petrol nurburg to dunkerque - 275 miles - £60 (pesimistic estimation)
so on the cheap your looking at ..... £430 ish plus petrol from your home to dover.

I assume there is no noise limit at the Ring if Doug is going?

haha, your right! but I was thinking along the lines of miles/engine rebuilds, not the fact it could be cold, damp and wet!!jeffw wrote:Wimp....drive it acrossFitting a tow bar so I can bring an R500?!?!?!

From Ben Lovejoy...derdle wrote:I assume there is no noise limit at the Ring if Doug is going?
The marshalls do conduct testing, both targeted and random. However, based on various experiences, we have concluded that Nürburgring GmbH is keen to be seen to be doing something to satisfy the concerns of local residents[1] without actually keeping too many people off the track. [1] Is it just me, or does it seem bizarre to live inside a race-track and then complain about the noise?
For example, they sometimes pick out perfectly standard (and quiet) vehicles to test. Phil Gardner's theory is that by picking lots of vehicles they know will pass, this enables them to be seen to be carrying out lots of tests and report back that 95% of them pass, thus giving the impression that noise is not a problem at the Ring. They have also allowed vehicles to continue after failing the test by a margin, with one person suggesting that there is an 'unofficial limit' of about 100dB.
However, the bottom-line remains that there is an official 95dB limit, and some people have been sent away for being too noisy.
