New Tyres..

Post by stark » Tue Oct 16, 2007 11:50 pm

Need some new front tyres i believe, the car is currently running on Avon something or others on the front, and Pirelli P6000's on the back. What tyres are recommended?

Tried PS2's .They are good although costly at £120 a corner.

I tried some KU31 Kumho's recetly. Pleasantly surprised at grip and performance closly matching the PS2's.

My friend has the PS2's and he's goign to try the Kumhos next time as he inds very little difference.

Prices are £60 delieverd a corner.

Pirellis definitely go all over the place. Avons. Well, I dont know myself but lots of complaint on quality and build of the tyre also reports of very bad grip.

Ahh P6000s. I changed mine even though they had loads of tread. Bad bad tyres.

Treat your car to matching tyres all round. The Goodyear F1 Asymetrics have just blitzed the most recent performance tyre tests.

I used to run Goodyear F1 GSD3's when I had an S4. Great tyre for the price. Bought Hankooks as a replacement. Ok, but not great.

The latest magazine tyre test, AutoCar this week, rates the new Goodyear Eagle Asymetric 1st, Michellin PS2 2nd (1st for dry performance) and the Conti Contact Sport 3 3rd, pretty similar to the Evo test last month. Although the Pirelli PZero Rosso came last, I 'm trying them at the moment and thought they were superb at Castle Combe. I am, however, coming from Kuhmo Ecsta 712s which were really :dung:

Do tyre tests rate them for durability though ? The PS2's last at least twice as long as Toyo's for example.

I was told the EAGLE F1 GS-D3 have changed recently (in the last 3 months) are the Asymetric ones the new style? Are they better than the old ones?

Personally i rate Dunlop SP 9000's, they really good... couldn't justify the price of Michellins, Pirelli's or even Goodyears.. picked up the Dunlops for a good price from a local place, Infinitly better than the Pirelli P-Zero's that i had before, they were truely shocking.
