URGENT REPLY NEEDED
guys...moral of the story i am coming back to Europe this sunday, and will live in Rome.
My rs4 is in florida and shall be shipped to me in about 3 weeks. The car has one florida plate on the rear end.
I will tell the Italians that its personal use and it will be re-exported after 6 months (or however long they let me keep it with florida plates?
There is one thing i do not understand...I know that in Italy, and Switzerland they have very stringent regulations on cars.
My car ...or Andy's car...or most rs4's on this site could not pass these tests since we have modified our cars.
So how do you guys get by in the UK ?
Please also note that this rs4 has 2 NOS tanks in the spare wheel well.
Do you guys know if NOS is legal ? allowed ?
I know NOS exists in the UK ...but anyone got any ideas if it exists in Italy ?
No point bringing the tanks if i cant find any NOS !!
Another question??
Which would be the best European country to have the car registered if i wanted to have european plates ?
I could take all the mods off the car and place the original parts on but that would take 5 years !! Lol !!
Are sportec wheels and MOVIT brakes allowed in Europe ??
Another problem is that my USA car insurance does not cover a car if it is in Europe...Do you guys think there is any European insurance that would cover an RS4 with florida plates ?
TALK TO ME GUYS !!!! TOTAL PANIC HERE !!

Re: URGENT REPLY NEEDED
I don't live in Italy, but believe the following to be true (based on what I've been told so assume its value is what you paid for it )
Switzerland etc will only allow manufacturer approved modifications, and that includes tyres and wheels.
If you plan to live in Italy, you should register it in Italy. Any EU country expects a car to be registered in the country its registered keeper resides within 2 years of the car being taken to that country. (A friend moved to Switzerland from the UK and leaves his 993 in the uk with a relative for a couple of months a year, so he does not have to have it put on Swiss plates).
No idea about Nos, but would imagine it could be sourced somehow.
No idea on the vehicle testing requirements in Italy, but would guess they are somewhat similar ot the uk.
Since you will be driving on the right in Italy the lights will not need changing (if you brought it to the uk to register you would have to change these).
I would suggest having a search for the companies that specialise in import/export of cars. They should be aware of what is required, and may tell you over the phone/by email what to look out fro without any commitment to use them for the transfer. Has to be worth a shot, eh
Good luck with the move. Where you going to in Italy ??
Cheers,
John.

I'm sure Mr. LittleSkull can deploy all his Italy + RS4 know-how to help here. Quovadis, you might want to try and contact him directly as you seem very time-pressured.

Re: URGENT REPLY NEEDED
I am going outside Rome in the country side.
I have already spoken to little skull, however his RS4 is standard i believe.
If i can drive for 2 years with USA plates that's fine.
The car will probably get stolen before then !! Lol !
If push comes to shove i can have the car registered in Germany.
I am lucky, i have various European passports as well as a USA one..so the final country of chosen registration should not be a problem.
About NOS..i have a very progressive shot in first gear and second gear..then full shot in 3rd. This is done with a progressive controller.
I also have a window switch, which turns the NOS on from 2800 rmp to 6000 rmp to avoid over-injecting.
I don't know how much HP gain there is because i cannot measure this, but my 458 MTM feels like it has added minimum 100 hp.
The difference with the NOS and without the NOS in the florida heat is like day and night.
I got all my NOS parts from TREVOR THE WIZARD OF NOS in the UK.
The fact that the RS4 has 2 turbos greatly increases the effects of NOS, and keeps the engine much cooler.
In the past i had tried the aquamist and labtronics water systems here in florida, it did not help significantly.
Why take half measures ? Go first class, so will your children!
NOS here in the USA is cheap, its about 26 dollars to fill my two 5lb bottles.
Since the NOS shot is progressive and the injectors are small size, the NOS lasts for a long time.
I can imagine that with NOS the car has anywhere from 530hp to 550 hp. I shall test this in Europe whre finally, you guys have access to 4 wheel dynos.
I shall be visting a friend of mine in Chichister fairly often, so if any of you guys live around there, let's meet up and have some fun !
later...gino

Sorry, can help you only with info from Russia.
Can you give me some details of configuration to reach +100hp with NOS?
I use Trev NOS set with MAXIMIZER, but can't get more, than 30-40hp. Tried hard with all jets (from 22hp to 200hp) and different Calibration. Can you tell me what jets and calibration are you using?

Grigori..
first of all i cant measure horsepower here in the USA.
Secondly its so hot here in florida that the difference with NOS and without is huge.
It's so cold in Russia, that there's probably not much difference.
You say you have tried Trevor's big nozzles ? With 2 turbos you should be getting much more than 40 hp....i would call Trevor and set this right.
I have 2 injectors just before the intercoolers.
Have you tried a 100% shot NOS full blast ?

DONT PANIC!
i have lived in most of the europen countries with my turkish plate car for years.no one can make any emission test to your car or noone has the chance to ask removing the nos.
they may give you temporary plates if you apply.
all you have to do is 'PUT ANOTHER PLATE TO THE FRONT' for now.and my personal advice recheck your insurance.rs4 in italy very high possibility can be stolen.
they stole my mercedes in milan, from hotels parking area.(year 1993)

Timucin, your "real life experience" in multi-country Europe is very valuable for all of us who "move around quite a bit". However, if I recall correctly, quovadis is already back in Florida after only a short stay in Rome.
have a great day
