I think this is pretty fair comment. Rules are rules. its the same for everyone. Imagine if he was allowed to continue and someone in a similar situation was made to pay the trader subs. Another point is that we all found out about craig through this site and people passing on his name so realistically he is probably no worse off for not being allowed to post (if thats the case). I would also gues that if a thread pops up asking about btooth retro fits his name will be put forward in the same way as a referral would be for a decent paint shop. Personally id pay the subs and benefit from the goodwill on here but I dont know the full story.simple1 wrote:Everybody has a different situation, but in this case, the said person traded openly at first and carried on via PM after being warned. The difference is that this guy was actually a trader, as in, he runs a business doing exactly as you claim. We have all popped down the road to help out a fellow member, that is not trading, my old quattro would not be running today had that not been the case, and an endless supply of relevent info is always welcome especially when it comes from people who work at these things all day, but that is why we have Trade RS status, for a very reasonable price, it prevents traders earning money without putting something back in the pot. We have a small budget from this which 100% goes into running the site, along with contributions from our own pockets as and when needed. That is what pays to keep the site going. it grates when a trader refuses to contribute claiming they derive no income from the site, so maybe we should change the poll to read, ' Who paid CraigB to instal whatever?'

Anyone reading craigyb's postings on the other sites he is still active on will see that he GIVES an awful lot of advice for FREE - so he's not about getting every penny he can. He learns a lot, shares a lot and, yes, makes a few pounds along the way.
IMHO the mods and admin on RS246 are not doing the best thing for it's MEMBERS by having a rigid "rules is rules" attitude.

With respect Dave I disagree with that last comment, You need rigid rules when it comes to trading on web sites or it becomes a bun fight. Being somewhat of a neutral here perhaps and obviously not party to the full facts but more in terms of having not used him myself but possibly wanting to and hearing how good a chap he is and this is clear by watching this thread unfold. I completely understand you rate this guy and he clearly does a great job and offers good free advice. The fundementals are clear however and that is he clearly makes his money and benefits in trading on this site at some point. That money would go back into the site development and benefits both us and him long term. So there fore why would he have an issue contributing a sub for that continued and ongoing network development that is quite clearly a win win to all?? Normal business practice.PetrolDave wrote:Anyone reading craigyb's postings on the other sites he is still active on will see that he GIVES an awful lot of advice for FREE - so he's not about getting every penny he can. Personally, I give a lot of free advice in my job but you would expect that "free" advice to turn into cash somewhere further down the line even if in a different guise. His reputation is clearly excellent and therefore its only going to be helping his business by playing the game as everyone else does who trades on here. One thing I do think is a good idea however is to perhaps suggest restablishing communication with him in the attempt to get him back on board as its clearly in the sites and members best interest.

If you feel that strongly, maybe you would like to pay the £250, and give him his access back. What you are actually asking is one rule for one, and one for another which makes even less sense than just allowing people to earn money through our hard work and investment. Other RStrade status business do not see a problem with it, Mrc and others were quick to jump at a reasonable advertisig package which directly targeted the very people they wanted. They are also very generous with time and advice.PetrolDave wrote:Anyone reading craigyb's postings on the other sites he is still active on will see that he GIVES an awful lot of advice for FREE - so he's not about getting every penny he can. Actually all this is over £12.50 a month (£150/year). The rules are the rules, and if you start linking your "business" to this site you need to be a site sponsor.
There are enough people on here who feel badly about the site being abused, and they are probably the silent majority.
The bottom line is that if you, the users, don't promote revenue for this site - IT WILL FAIL. RS246 needs money to be able to continue, no money = no RS246.
