How much of the disc/pad replacement quotes above are for parts vs. labour?

This should be a pretty simple job so I'd be interested to know how much it'll cost to DIY when the time comes.

Have you tried a few heavy stops from high speed ? :)
David,

The car is 5 months old & i've covered just over 10000 miles. I can clearly see the front pads are low although not dash light inducing low quite yet.

As for the discs, i will ask to see them once the dealer takes them off the car & before they suggest i replace them, however on closer visual inspection (through the wheel), all the holes are clear as i blasted the monster amounts of crud from them once i got back from Germany, i can't see any other marks, pits or deposits on the discs & the vibration is not light juddering & is not really felt under light braking, but under heavier braking it's a heavy judder which is no doubt warping & according to 2 Audi Master Techs i've spoken to, the OEM discs CAN warp under extreme use & i'd say that around 50+ laps of Nordschleife over 5 days is pretty extreme use :D

Told my dealer what i was doing before i left so this will be wear & tear, so i'll not be trying to blag it through Warranty.

Thanks for all the answers, however a huge difference in Costs, as one post says about £700 for front pads & discs fitted which seems a great price, but another says well over £1000 & that's using MRC (if i read the posts correctly). The £700 i could live with but over a bag of sand will hurt a little. Still i had the fun so deserve to pay the price.
Sorry bud I forgot to mention my quote of 1100 included calipers as well which obviously makes a difference  700 sounds a fair price if you can get it.

Phew, thanks for clearing that up. Why did you need new Calipers??

Looks like i'll be aiming for £4-500 for front pads & discs & just hope it works.

Cheers Jim for the info.

I got nowhere near the price a couple of you mentioned. The retail price for just the discs was £285.10 each plus VAT, then £207.73 plus VAT for the pads.

Total bill at retail money including fitting, VAT plus a brake fluid change (made sense to get the fluid done given pads & discs were being replaced), was £1095.35. I did manage to get a dealer credit of £500 so i paid just shy of £600. Still, without the credit i was looking at £1100 for the entire job.

Car feels much better now on the brakes & the discs were in fact slightly warped, scored on the back & generally uneven which the Master Tech rightly said was heat related.

Glad it's all sorted, but i'd love to know how a price of under £700 is possible for front pads & discs, given just the discs are over £600 without VAT & no fitting??

Glad you got a decent price, would love to see a pic of your 'WARPED' disc.

Is that what Audi 'mechanic's' call themselves these days, Master Tech'.
I wonder if a Master Tech would have the ability to strip and rebuild an engine?

LOL... it's interesting I must admit years ago on a mk2 golf GTI I had to change the discs and they were warped so badly the whole car shook..... after i changed them it was fine under breaking and normal driving. I guess under intense heat etc metal does change shape does it not?? I'm not saying I don't believe your point of view just not totally conviened that it is sceintifically impossible for discs to warp.
Current car..... hmmmmm????
