Who has peeling on their alloys

Post by Jezzer » Thu Sep 20, 2007 10:00 pm

Wanted to get a list together of owners that have peeling paint on their alloys on cars they have owned from new who are 100% sure they haven't had them refurbed.

I had the same problem on mine and posted on here about it. Paint starting flaking on the front left wheel @ about 2000 (ish) miles and now the rear wheel on the same side is doing it. From what I understand when a wheel gets re-furbed (if thats whats causing the problem here) they re-furb the other wheel on the same side as well. Some sort of switch by the clutch also went, resuling in me not being able to start the car. Regardless, I bought my car brand new and shouldn't really be facing these kinds of problems. Hopefully my dealer will sort it out as it should be a warrantee job.

Regards,

AL

Car is march 06.

22k miles.

Been used as it should be, but its already had a new set of dics and pads on the front and this second set are making a right lot of noise. Taking the car to hatfield Audi, seeing as Hitchin Audi damaged it last time it was there....

Not liking the peeling wheels, had the drivers seat leather replaced (started wearing badly), but even this looks like it may need re-doing as the replacement leather is badly creased even after 2 weeks of seeing if it gets better. Had a new arm rest (squeeking old one), 2 new fogs (that still mist up)...
Noticed the rear brake calipers yesterday while cleaning the car..

When are these c63's available!?

Have had two peeling wheels but both of them were refurbished after dealer curbed them while service work was being done, now replaced with two brand new ones and never had a problem with original wheels. My front calipers are still black unlike my Rangey which have gone grey, but the RS logos are virtually faded to nothing. Cant get the logos seperately and Audi blame it on using wheel cleaner which I dont.

When they replaced the seat leather they needed to removed the drivers seat.

In doing this they dragged the seat over the door seal and damaged 4 trims including the scuff plate etc..

They left the car damaged and only offered to resolve when i pointed out what they had done..

No idea what one to avoid mate, they never told me who did it...
I don't think they work on many RS's there. When they replaced my discs and pads the car was returned with a real poor brake feel.
After a few weeks i asked if they had changed the fluid, to which they replied "the fluid needs changing every 2 years".
I then had to point out that as the thing had eaten the pads and discs well before the service schedule would suggest, isn't there a chance that the fluid needs doing early too... The fluid was changed and the brakes sorted.
They also replaced my drivers seat leather and it doesn't look very good. Leather badly creased.

The brakes now squeak really bad. I hate driving it at the moment as it sounds like a bus. So it will be off to Hatfield for them to have a go to sort the brakes, redo the leather and get their opinion on the flaking alloys...

Steve, get Cliff the master technician to work on your car at Hatfield, he is really good. Ask him to put your car in a decent place in the car park there, it's supposed to be a nightmare for having your car dented so I've heard from a few Porsche drivers when it use to be HR Owen. You've got me really worried about taking my car to Hitchin now. Hatfield too far for me to go.

Sorry to hear about the issues Steve. Hatfield Audi have been very good with me so far, although I've not had anything major done there in fairness.

Re: the seat leather, did you manage to get them to do this under warranty? Sounds like the kind of thing they'd pass off as wear and tear. Was it badly damaged?

Hitchin Audi said wear and tear and i said b*llocks! they passed it onto to audi customer care and they also refused point blank after a few very long and heated conversations...
I basically said its a joke that a 50k car with 16k miles on the clock has the leather worn off the drivers lumbar bolster from climbing in and out the car. They then tried to say do i wear jeans etc (which i do most days). i replied are you telling me that i cannot wear jeans to drive this car and where does it say that in any audi literature....
I had given up then 2 weeks later out the blue, audi cust care called, said they reviewed the conversation and that they wanted to help.
So they paid for the leather (aprox £250) i paid to fit ( 2 hours labour).
