Used the BMC on Noggy Babe with no probs and really good improvements on egt's over stock, like for like, with the water injection - you do need to shield the MAF though to get it to work effectively. We had 542bhp with around 720nm, and then there was the extra NOS which had the 150bhp jets on full chat, again no probs, did sound nice as well :biggrin2:

Extra hot air eh? Hmmmm ... correct me if i'm wrong but hasn't the RS4 air box got an opening (albeit one that has a vacuum actuated flap) in exactly the same place as the hole that you cut for the darintake mod on an S4 box ...? Have you blocked yours off neckarsulm?
it gave me an extra 50bhp
I got an extra 51bhp - so there! 8)

Woody's off on the bonnet-slot thing again! .... now I've got the RS4 bumper on perhaps the hot air from the back of the coolers is vented out through the 'gills' at each side .... :biggrin2:

I've got an RS4 airbox in my S4, so I guess this opening flap thing won't work. Can anyone think why it wouldn't be open all the time?

Perhaps when they designed it, they realised that the air temp coming through the flap was warmer when you're not moving or something like that?

Dunno - does your flap not open then? I guess if you haven't got the vacuum tube that actuates the flap then i suppose yours must be shut all the time .... tough break!
Perhaps when they designed it, they realised that the air temp coming through the flap was warmer or something like that?
Then why design the box with a hole in the first place? Can anyone think why? D'ya think they made a mistake and just left it that way ... or something like that?

If you look carefully at the front of the bottom half of the S4 airbox you can see a round mark where the hole is cut and the flap installed for use with an RS4 top half (was there on mine anyway)

You don't have to do it Blue Thunder - but a lot of S4 folk do, even in the US - and it's generally a lot hotter in most parts of the country there than it is over here ... so gee wizz, I wonder how much hot air must be under their bonnets ...???

rich that pic of your car looks like there,s a nice slot in the wrong side of the bonnet..either that or its a neatly placed shadow...
@ S4TAN..im not sure the vacuum flap is in the same place as the Darin intake mod..??i thought that mod was to cut out a lower corner...isnt the flap more central and behind the headlight..

Woody - the photo in Nige-RS4s post shows the whole front/bottom section (oo-err!) cut out (the darintake mod) - but iirc that section is where the hole/flap goes on an RS4 box....could be wrong though, wouldn't be the first time ...
