Upgrade your S4 to an RS4 ???

Post by dnutt » Sun Sep 23, 2007 12:26 am

Does anyone think the S4 is worth upgrading to the RS4 then?

You could try before you buy? Vision Motorsport have the new RS4 to drive on their performance car days! www.rally-driving-days.co.uk

Now that my car's 3 years old I've been seriously considering it for a while. I just can't justify spending 30-35k to get a car that will be old shape in a few months, awesome though it is.

I'm gonna wait see what the new S4's saying - if it's not much of an improvement both visually & performance-wise on my current B6, I'll probably stick it out for the RS5.

Where can you pick up RS4's for £30-£35K?

I've just traded up from a B6 S4 saloon to a B7 RS4 Avant, so in part this has justified the upgrade for family reasons and more accessibility to the storage space. There is a difference between the two, and no matter what modifications I made to my B6 the handling on the RS is better. Not sure yet if there is a signififcant power increase as my old B6 had more torque but less bhp than my RS, but it is worth the trade up.

Essentially paying the same on a monthly basis as I was for the B6 and the car I got just had its AVS1, new tyres and 12 months tax, so £2K saved there straight away and insurance is cheaper!

upgrade?

Post by EvlD3mon » Mon Oct 22, 2007 7:37 am

I had the same question I just leased an 08 S4 and I am already brainstorming that idea(even though its too early!) I am debating over buying the car in 3yrs or search a used RS4 (maybe lease return!) which would fall at around the same payment as my current lease. What is everyone's opinion? I really love the extra HP and look of the RS4(have not test drove yet) but I love my new S4. any suggestions? And I know its early but can't stop thinking? sorry.

Hi,

I bought my '04 B6 S4 Avant last month and I am already thinking about a RS4 Avant in 2 years time. Not sure what the payments will work outat though.....depends on how much the RS4 depreciates I guess. I currently pay £424/month via RBS personal loan over 4 years.

PG how much are you paying per month for the RS4 if you dont mind me asking? ;)

Pennies over £600, which is about £80 more than I was paying for the S4. However I also picked up an RS that had its AVS1 as part of the deal, 12 months tax and new tyres all round which tots up to £1800 approx. so I effectively get a years worth of tax and maintenance free motoring so the deal evened itself up in my case.
