Titanium Colour Wheels

Post by hbk » Fri Sep 21, 2007 11:45 am

Thinking of having them painted, has anyone had this done and if so can you recommend anyone (London based) and also any pics?

Thanks

RE: Titanium Colour Wheels

Had it done after scuffing one wheel on a kerb
Also have a Daytona RS4, so tried titanium colour; regretted it (colour change)and not impressed with quality (paint peeling on inner rim)
Bought 4 new wheels and now back to original
Titanium always looked 'dirty' compared to the silver originals

Titanium Wheels

Post by 88wiff » Fri Sep 21, 2007 12:37 pm

I had my wheels done via Audi as part of their exclusive package when i ordered the car, they cost me £85 + V.A.T for all of the wheels. I disagree with the comment that suggests they always look dirty, as they disguise the dust and still look good when they are dirty (not that i am looking for a debate thats just my opinion)
I feel though they make my car more distinctive and it enhances the cars appeal!!! (in my opinion that is!!!)

I have attached an image for you to see them on my car.

I had mine professionally refurbed by Lepsons to a different shade titanium than the audi standard as I didn't like the lack of contrast between standard titanium and the daytona grey paintwork.

They are painted using OEM techniques and the finish is superb. Absolutely no peeling and I'm confident there won't be. Another good place is pristine alloy wheels.

Also agree that they don't look as "dirty" as do the silver wheels with brake dust

Agree they hide the brake dust, but when cleaned I much preferred the silver colour (car washed weekly minimum)
As regards the peeling; I guess that's my own fault for not choosing a 'good enough' refurb company, lesson learned
I guess it's all down to preference on wheel colour choice, I can see pros and cons of each.

No great pics as haven't had a chance to take any with a decent camera...the one that took these doesn't seem to be able to show the contrast of the bodywork to the wheel colour as well as is visible with the naked eye. These were taken some months ago:

I think it is just right as it is. Keeping the mirrors as they are breaks it up, I think it would be too white otherwise and look like a fridge. What about the titanium mirrors off one of those special edition cars, that would look nice.
I really like the look of this car, which dealer sorted out the wheels for you and how much to do the work.

Thanks for the thumbs up fellas. Jezzer I think AudiJohn was suggesting black mirrors which I nearly went for. Kinda wish I did now to be honest but still like the ali look. I suppose they are part of the RS brand / styling after all
