Has anyone purchased a speed camera detceot lately (i.e. Origin Blue 2, Road Angel, Snooper 2)?
If so, what do you think of it and which one did you buy?
Speed Camera Detectors
Re: Speed Camera Detectors
Below is a copy of a post I made in a previous thread
I have the Road Angel and I am very pleased with the fixed camera detection side of it.
As for the laser detection side of it I would comment that it only has one detection head (that we would all put in the front of the car) but does have the option to purchase a second head with extention cable that will allow you to fit it in the rear of the car with the cable routed to the front detection head. Even so this will only detect laser by which time you are nicked, assuming the gun is aimed at your car and not the car next to you. My opinion is that the laser detection aspect is floored in so far as it will detect but you can still get nicked. In my opinion the only sure fired option is to then fit laser diffuses(SLD920) front AND rear. As for them being illegal, it has not been tested in court as the first person to have been charged for using them bottled out(IMO) and pleaded guilty.
Bearing in mind all this is to stop points getting on your licence to allow you to stay mobile. Paying the fines is not the problem otherwise you would not be looking to spend over a grand on the above equipment, as well as increased insurance premiums. There are other ways of staying moblie while serving a ban.
So should you invest in this equipment and run the risk of committing a criminal offence or should you us your "investment money" to pay the fines and cover the cost of "other ways of staying moblie". In the last 18 years I have only had 3 points on my licence for exceeding the speed limit.
Just some thoughts. All up to the individual though.

Re: Speed Camera Detectors
I have been using the Morpheous RoadPilot - it seems to work well and provides plenty of information, although I have discovered a few 'oddities' in the database.
I have just received the radar detector upgrade for it and will probably have a go at fitting it over the weekend.

Re: Speed Camera Detectors
Hi Guys.
I'm in the market for a new one of these devices right now. It seems a little bit of a minefield but I'm thinking of ugrading my Morpheous Geodessy Plus to an Origin b2. The Morpheous has been great but gives me little detail and warns of cameras on both sides of the road - it is in essence a first generation GPS "danger-spot" warning device. The reason I'm looking at the origin b2 is because it has a screen - but isn't massive - or a distraction on the dashboard, it gives you the right level of deatil and will integrate with the LCR100 Laser blinder so laser warnings will come up on the screen too. Its predecessor gave less detail and was bigger but was the industry leader for a while.
The other one to look at is the road angel.
The origin can be found at:

and some really useful reviews and great information about speed detection can be found at:

Re: Speed Camera Detectors
Cant comment on the GPS based pole detectors, but as for the comment on LAser detectors, by the time they hit you, its too late, your nicked. Very little splatter from laser, unlike radar.
but... you can 98% jam them, and it works. I've run a M10 for the last 3 years and highly recommend the product.
This is based upon ProLaser II and III, plus Stalker Laser Guns (ie the more modern Laser guns).

plus of course you need a V1 too!

Guys
I have spoken with a company who sells all these devices with regards to doing a "group-buy" discount.
I'll post further details in For/Sale Wanted
