Still, I am very happy indeed with the work Mihnea has done with my car and with the up and coming de-cats it can only get better.t_urbo wrote:He dyno'd before and after and there was a 3 hp difference.VARSITY wrote:Interesting to see that JD also had decats but used a std exhaust. Said he had dyno'd the Miltek and std seperate and found little or no difference? His car was quiet until 2k rpm then it roared, more so and deeper than the Miltek with cats.
Comments please?
Shame i did not compare the sound of his to my stock exhaust to see what difference the cats make, although now the flaps are open all the time it sounds much throatier in the lower gears.

Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
I bought the RS saying i wouldn't be modding anymore after 4.5 years of modding madness with my previous cars. Only a month in i am starting break
Out of interest how far into Holland is JD and does he frequent these boards?
In the past i have organised group buy mapping sessions and got nice discounts as a result - anyone interested in joining another?
Finally where do Audi sit with this. I have a strong feeling it voids warrenty?

Good to hear you are happy with it t urbo !
To answer some questions i saw in this topic, yes i have a RS4 V8 ehh sorry my wife's car,
( I sold our car AND her Cooper S works...she was not so happy..
) but i may "use" the RS4 now
Yes i was also @ the "Ring" on sunday, i love her even more, the RS4
. I wasn't there for a while and the
first time with the RS4, wow what a car !! In the afternoon when it was most dry with a lot of traffic we did 8.39min.
No it wasn't me you came across on the track Paul, there were some more dutch Daytona RS4's.
Picture of mine below. Saw you driving several times on and around the track. Sorry couldn't speak with you.
It was nice to speak with Varsity, you have a very nice "tdi", i like the completely dark style of your car.
The exhaust system is de-catted with standard valved back-system. I remapped it and switched off the 2nd Lambda's.
The cats(4) are original metal cats so there was not much improvement (3bhp).
But the sound is much better so , with standard valved back-system full open in modified Sport-mode.
So it can also be quiet in normal-mode, remember it's my wife's car

So the DMS map doesn't enable 100% throttle from what I read (or it at least sounds like it wasn't offered) and I can't find the MRC thread, but did the MRC Tuning map do this or not?.......or not yet as I expect the case would be!

@ audijohn, no that won't give any problems. Because it's a fully closedloop widebandlambda controlled system.
Only when you remove the cats you can have problems (without a good remap for it).
@ GrahamS4, I don't know. Make a log with Vag-Com from channel 003 and 061 in 3rd gear and you can see. And another log in 4th gear and you can see the difference (or not).

Jeroen, you may be right as looking at that photo i don't recall the Dutch Daytona saloon in question sitting quite so low as yours, so perhaps it was a different car. TBH even without the B5's, i was surprised just how many B7 RS4's in various shapes & forms i saw last week. We had a stunning special order Pearl White Avant in our Scuderia Group, that i think was from Finland.RSjd wrote:Good to hear you are happy with it t urbo !

Had a great time. Wish we'd had time to chat.
As for the re-map question, i'm going to investigate further this valve & throttle issue, as i'd hope sometime soon that DMS would be able to offer this (not asked them yet), given it's now an obvious issue & only appears to have been overcome in the last few weeks.

My car had the maps as per the above, however as I chose the non-valved Miltek, now removed awaiting a new system, this facility wasn't required.
You would have thought that all good tuners knew this!
