Todays mod........

Post by Russboy » Tue Sep 04, 2007 8:29 pm

Well decided to stick with my plate i've had for years, rather than get an S4 plate on there:

Still not 100% if I like the shortened plates on the Audi as much as when they were on my van, Cupra R and VR6, but growing on me.

Other mod, well just a little one really, aerial that is! No loss of reception either so all good:

Hopefully (time permitting) small mod tomorrow, prob a major one or two on Thu, then poss more at the weekend depending on deliveries etc

I'm thinking ditch the shortened plates mate ... :nodder: .... but each to their own! Nice looking car - be a shame to spoil it ...

P.S. - IMO your next proper mods should be ARBs and coilovers (car will look great, and handle great then) - the day after you've done that go and get an MRC custom re-map...

Will poss keep the front plate, but loose the back one.

Would go to MRC, but have had no response so far from asking for a booking for milltek and remap, I wait in hope!

I think you have the ARB's done don't you Russ? Also you're running RS4 suspension.

Think a remap then brakes?

Yep. The car has the stiffer H&R ARBs and (2nd hand) RS4 springs and shocks.

Not a fan of the shorter number plates to be honest.

Might suit a van or Cupra R but not an S4.

Doug is answering the phone now (yes - it's TRUE!! ) - I was there the other day and witnessed it ... CliveH was there too and tried to take a photo of him actually answering a call - but then some large men in black suits and sunglasses appeared, confiscated the camera and smashed it on the floor. Clive and I were then put in the back of a blacked-out limo and subjected to some kind of device that was meant to wipe our memory ....

Lol

To be honest i've got too much on here at the pub (thats what I do for a living, own/run a pub) so the remap has been put on hold for now. Will do the little bits such as brakes etc as I go along and no doubt pop along to see Doug in the near future!

The remap is THE BEST 'bang-for-your-buck' mod on these cars ....

If you're going for a cat-back Milltek then ask MRC to gut your pre-cats too (if jfeb hasn't already had it done)

I was advised to do brakes first, then go for a remap. It's always handy to know you're going to stop, once you do put extra power in. What's the arrangement with the aerial, by the way? Due to where I park my car, I end up with rear windscreen covered with dew pretty often. Every time I hit the heater button, the radio becomes white noise. I liked the thinking but the implementation sucked. Oh well.

I think your stock brakes are fine for a k03 re-mapped car - if you go k04 then it's definitely a good idea to upgrade the fronts...

Brakes have alays got to be the sensible upgrade really, especially as my standard ones are shot!

Aerial at about £10 was worth thee try I thought. Got mine off of ebay but it's an autoleads part.

rikrose - if you plan to go on track regularly it might be prudent to uprate the brakes before engine upgrades.
If you have a spare few weeks you may want to search all threads on S4 brake info.

Might also be worth asking GrahamS4 for his opinion on brakes since he has a remap and standard-ish brakes.
