A friend in need......

Post by deansmith » Tue Sep 04, 2007 5:19 pm

Hi All,

I'm posting this for a friend in need. He has a few issues with his B5 RS4, I was wondering if anybody was able to help?

1) The Brake light warning comes on when the pedal is depressed, if you tap the pedal though the warning dissapears. He has replaced the switch at the pedal and this made no difference, he then replaced it again thinking that the 'new' switch maybe faulty, again this didn't clear the fault. Any Ideas?

2) Another Light warning appears on the DIS once the lights are turned on, all the lights work fine. Are there any known issues? I think it may be one of the numberplate lights throwing a wobbly?

3) Rear parking sensors, are they standard? When you put the car into reverse it emits a warning of multiple beeps and tones however, once past this stage there are no other beeps no matter how close you get?

Sorry, I feel a bit cheeky for posting as I hardly ever post, I hope you don't mind!

1) Is it the actual brake wear sensor (pads) or the brake light bulb that is appearing?
Which one on this list if any

2) Connect the car up to a laptop running VAG com and see what fault codes exist. I'm in Newbury and have access so whizz the car over and we can look at the fault codes if you like.

3) Most cars with parking sensors make an audible alarm when you put the car into reverse which activates the sensors. The B7 I had did it and it gets on your tits after a while.

Not trying to sound stupid, but this warning light when you turn on the lights is not a green light is it? If so that is normal
