Picked up my RS4 on Sat, a few issues...

Post by ChrisRS4 » Mon Sep 03, 2007 3:30 pm

Hey Guys,

I picked up my RS4 avant at the weekend and noticed a few things that didn't make me too happy.

First off, I told them not to wash the car - its usually done with a bucket of dirty water and a sponge. Now the car is covered in swirl marks and scratches and its only two days old

Secondly, when I picked it up the car had 61 miles on the clock and was down to 12mpg. My first impression was that they've been thrashing my brand new engine. Is it normal to find such a low mpg when you collect these things? I've been getting it up to 22mpg while pottering around trying to build up the mileage.

When I ordered the car, I went for the 'Protection Pack' - £200 for mudflaps, a load liner, and rubber mats. None of which were on the car, and I've since been told that there is no mud flaps for these things.

Lastly, after doing a search on here to find out what to look for when picking up a new RS4, I asked them to make sure the RS4 logo was on the sat-nav, disable double click entry, switch off the seatbelt chime, and activate the autolock chime. None of which were done, and now they're saying they don't know how to.

Has anyone else had problems like this with the dealers? I feel like its tarnished what could have been a great weekend.

They've been manoeuvering it around the workshop, letting it tickover, etc - so 12mpg isn't unreasonable.

100% true - the Audi mudflaps don't fit the RS4. I would have expected the dealer to know that !!! You should cause hell about the missing load liner and rubber mats though ...

Absolutely typical! Doing all of them using their VAS tool would take less than 5 minutes (And would take anyone competent with VAG-COM the same). It seems the electronics are now too complicated for the dealers to understand ...

Hey Chris,

Doesn't sound like Specialst were up to much!! My girlfriend picked our one up on saturday morning so i can't comment on how they dealt with the transaction.

When we got it the mpg was down to 11 she said, the salesman said it was cos he had driven it up from the bottom of the yard to the handover point..

Your sprint blue looks nice... here is a pic of our black one.

Have to hook up and have a mini meet!

cheers

I had a very apologetic Sales Manager on the phone this afternoon. They're going to pay for the correction detail at Polished Bliss, plus refund the cost of the mudflaps, and sort out the rest of it. Not all bad.

I had a twang of regret when I saw your black one on Saturday. I was undecided whether to go for blue or black, but they had the spec I wanted in blue so I went with that.

I'll no doubt be out on Tuesday for the usual bash. Although, it might have to be an EastsideRS4 meet ;)

most cars have at least 25 miles on them when they get to the dealers so 61 is not over the top. As for the mudflaps, that is just a saleman stuffup. My car usually comes back from the garage with less than 9 mpg, as stated, by the time it has sat in workshop and valet's bay running, thats what you would expect to see. I think mine usually drops to 6 when sitting being washed.

Polished Bliss are an excellent company who do great work - I will put money on it looking better after they have wroked on it than just after it left the paint booth.

As for the RS4 logo on sat nav - my local delaer changed mine the other day but mentioned they had only just learn't how to do it!

Nice looking car Chris.

Well I picked mine up today too, and...... have a few issues!

The side bolster of the drivers seat is torn (which has happened since I first saw it 2 weeks ago), so I have to go back to Northampton and they will replace the seat.

More annoying though is a problem with the ventilation system, even on the lowest fan speed it blows like gale into the cabin and the faster I go the faster the fan blows. Has anyone heard of anything similar on an A4/RS4? It strikes me as a fault with the auto air con, and I suspect they didn't check for fault codes before handing the car over to me. It makes it almost undrivable unless I switch the fan completely off.

So, that's two reasons to make the return journey to Northamptonshire..

Steve - alot of the A4s do this. There is a fix to this but can't remember the post. Perhaps someone can post up or do a search. I'll see if I can find it.

Cheers Jezzer. It kinda sounds sad, but I went with blue/black optics to match the other toy :? (also a Polished Bliss regular)

Aircon noise is common problem and can be helped but not stopped by using system in recirculate mode, however there is no fix as with this system, they left a baffle plate out which closed by vacuum on the B5 to prevent the forced air.
