PIN code for Navi plus

Post by Ozrs4 » Tue Aug 28, 2007 11:26 am

Hi,
Just wondering if you all have a 4 digit PIN code supplied when you purchased your RS4 with the RNS-E Navi plus unit?

I'm trying to do the coding for video-in-motion and need that 4-digit code but the dealer said they can't provide me one and the car doesn't come with one (in Australia). I find it very odd and annoying. Have I been given the BS from the dealer? If I have bought the car, don't I have the right to this PIN code? Thanks for any feedback guys.

Also, is it possible to programme the video-in-motion without unplugging the unit from the car?

This may be a better forum to get a quicker answer, not telling you to get lost or anything ;) just a very specific forum...

Jason
Thx Jason for the navplus forum info.
My main question was is it true what the dealer was telling me that RS4 doesn't come with the PIN code card when delivered? They insisted we don't get one and there is no need to have one as they can log online to unlock it if needed be...but that doesn't help if I want to unlock the VIM myself (which is easily done if I know what "MY' pin code is).

No that's NOT true at all - ALL cars fitted with ANY OE Audi radio or sat nav should be supplied with a PIN code card.

If the dealer you're talking to won't give you the PIN code then just go to a dealer who understands customer service instead of talking bull..it!

Sorry, I misunderstood, as above, you should get a pin with the system...

I purchased a second hand RS4 a few years ago and that came without a pin code. One trip to my local dealers sorted me out the code - I believe that they need the chassis number and then can look it up on Audi's computer, or e-mail Audi. Either way, it took 10 mins to sort.

audi and vw cars with factory radio or sat nav, do not have the pincode in the car
from the factory, this is so since 2006.
the dealer must "activate" the system before delivery.

Thanks all. I've spoken to another dealership and confirmed they can supply my PIN code without a hassle once the car is hooked up with their computer. That's what I thought. Cheers.

This is correct to my knowledge.

Strange - my RS4 (delivered in July 2006) came from the dealer with a PIN code card ....

How are you enabling VIM CD or the Hardware device? If it's the hardware device then, you may have to manually enter the tyre size.

If your using the hack CD then you won't need the pin code. Using the VIM hack disk, downgrade the firmware, and remove the radio fuse, for a few hours. Then upgrade the firmware, but try to do this in 2 stages (I.E 360, then 550 or 600) as if you jump to the latest firmware then you may find the nav voices coming from the rear speakers.

According to postings on www.navplus.us if you enable VIM using the CD that disables the tyre size learning too.

It seems that tyre size learning ONLY works if VIM is disabled.
