Here is a graph of my boost curve. Is this normal (not the boost but the response)?

just a thought on an "automatic" way of limiting boost in lower gears. while the old rs2 had a "trailer hitch" function which reduced boost when the trailer was plugged in, i don't believe the rs6 had this function as it's not supposed to have a trailer hitch - however it does have an altitude sender which will reduce boost on detection of lower altitude density. i believe that the algorithm is progressive reduction of boost as altitude rises. it uses the f96 sensor - based in the ecu - i believe pin 9 - at least it was in the rs2...

you'd have to put a bypass on the sender (f96) to force the lower density input on detection of f125 in "1" or "2" gear. having developed an interface box for tiptronic for my old s8 this can be a little challenging using analogue, probably best using a digital logic unit, but pretty straight forward nonetheless....

I recently have the low power issue, I checked everything, all the clips, all the pipes, spark plugs, MAFS, Lambdas etc and could not work out what was going on.
I went on holiday to Egypt for 2 weeks and was unable to get a direct flight there from England or if I could the prices were crazy.
Anyway found a flight from Frankfurt, drove out there, but on the way there the power loss was more noticeable, and the EPC light came on over 120mph and was struggling to get any more.
When the car stopped and was restarted the light would go out.
So I left the car with Audi at the airport and told them to find out what the problem was, and I had issues with the tyre pressure monitor, so I asked to look at that too.
The car needed a service too so I asked them to that also.
So I flew away to Egypt, and 3 days later got a call. The airbox had a fracture in the base where it connects to the MAFs, they replaced all 4 tyre sensors and valves, done an oil change and spark plus....had to sit down as they were going to quote me first....
739 Euros for everything.
I couldn't beleive how cheap it was.
I collected the car today to return back to England, pulling effortlessly at 180mph, more there but road were not permitting.
Problem fixed I am happy.

Totally off topic Raj & i'm glad you're car is sorted, but how exactly have you managed to get 480BHP out of an E46 M3??

Also, what have you had modified on your RS6 to get 550BHP?.

Off topic? I thought the topic was about mysterious boost loss issues, hence my reply.
Forgive me, I didn't read the post properly!!!

Raj Patel - Mind if you post a dyno graph or logs showing this power?

Cheers

Blimey that is cheap ...

I presume this problem was the same as recently discussed where you get the tyre with the line through it on the DIS display indicating the tyre pressure monitoring system wasn't working. Did Audi mention what the cause of the problem was (e.g. sensor battery problems)? Did they replace the control module as well. I only ask because mines booked in to have the above problem looked at in a couple of weeks time so would be good to give them a steer if at all possible.

Any ideas why or how it had got cracked? Any ideas why this might be the cause of power loss (e.g. affecting the MAF readings)?

Grizz - Cool, let me know how you go and I will do the same. I am having my car dyno'ed this week and will try and have them overlay my first dyno run 340whp(stock) with what I hope will be closer to ~400hp (now).

I have also ordered an electronic boost controller to see if it makes an improvement to the boost curve, will post results when i have them

Cheers Raj, I didn't pick up on the charged reference in your sig. That must be one hell of a S/C for a 130ishBHP gain 8) Nice job.

You did well with your RS6 to get that kind of power with just pipes & map. What torque is it producing?? (sorry for going O/T)

I drove mine for the first time with the new MAFs yesterday and while I don't know it feels any quicker than it used to (though it may be slightly) it felt consistent - it used to have good and bad days.
