Seatbelts stuck!!

Post by el_ringo » Sun Aug 19, 2007 10:27 pm

Hi,

After loading the car (saloon) this weekend at the country’s favourite Swedish furniture store I have the problem that BOTH rear seatbelts are stuck! On one side a pair of chairs are caught in a loop of the unfastened belt the other is clipped but under the folded seat!

It was a good idea at the time but didn’t really bargain on having half the stuff permanently bolted to the car!

Both of my rear seats are folded and after desperately to find some slack and taking half the skin off my fingers have decide to ask for help!

Does anyone know how I can access the seatbelt spool and also release the seatbelt manually so I can have me rear seats back without resorting to some scissors!?

Regards,

R

Is it the retract only mode after being fully extended?

Only solution is to reel in belt, take saw to furniture - much cheaper than Audi parts :(

As I drove the slack was taken up, not fully extended at the moment. I think you are right about what to cut up!!!

Shame you had to do that :(

I had this once with a BMW, all i did was fold the rear seats down and when i went to put them back up on belt had locked and i couldn't do anything. Took it to BMW, they cut the belt to get the seat up and we went back the next day for them to replace. Didn't cost anything as it was still within 12 months of purchace.

I put a side table on the back seats of the RS6 abut 2 months ago and this same thing happened to me, like you I messed about for about an hour but didn't know what to do, till I worked out the legs unscrewed
Wife would have gone mad if i had of cut the table, thank God for flat pack tables :D

It was perhaps the only chair in the place that didn't come as a flat pack! With a bit of luck and welding they may go back together! Just happy the car is undamaged.
