electric problems

Post by fletchie55 » Mon Aug 06, 2007 6:14 pm

I have 2 electrical problems, one far more serious than the other.

Firstly the alarm doesnt sound on my S4 avant facelift model. the lights flash though. I have already changed what I believed to be the siren (found behind the drivers side rear wheel in the space where the first aid kit etc goes) with a new one from VAG parts.

second problem is the rear drivers side speaker doesnt work, or at least its very very quiet compared to the others. I have changed the amplifier which didnt help, and I have also tried a different speaker which didnt help either, last option must be a dead channel on the head unit, anyone heard of this before? its the symphony unit.

cheers
Joe

By "S4 facelift" I presume you mean a current style B7?

If you do then it will still be under the 3 year manufacturer/importer warranty, so why aren't you getting it fixed by a dealer?

You could try cutting and swapping the wires out of the symphony unit (left channel for right channel) will tell you if it's the unit.

You can remove the pins from the harness if you don't want to cut them, but I think you need a special tool.

excellent idea! thanks mate. need to get to the back of it first though.
got me thinking maybe I can buy a wiring adapter from halfrauds and cut into that instead, then I can use my spare Pioneer headunit that I know is good on all channels!
