which warranty?

Post by osteoadam » Mon Aug 06, 2007 1:34 pm

hi

i'm in the process researching before i buy an rs6, i've read most of the topics on here - very useful. seen that people have used warranty direct, question is do they pay up for DRC repairs. audi say warranty is £1700 and direct quote about £680. or could anybody suggest another company who they have used.

Thanks inadvance

I renewed mine with Audi £1200 limited to 15K a year

I personaly will only used a Manufactor back warranty, 2 reason 1st they pay the correct labour rate so it won't cost me anything for a repair covered, 2nd you get Audi assitance with a car!

On the back of having an Audi warranty if something else goes wrong not covered by the warranty you have more chance of getting some goodwill as you have shown loyalty to the brand.

I have just renewed my warranty with Warrantywise. With them I get Main dealer repairs, single claim limit of £10,000, wear & tear, MOT failure cover, ABS, Air Con, ECU, turbos, intercooler and wastegate, air bags, alloys, 4x4 counter parts, all engine parts including block, cylinder heards & gaskets, camshaft timing belts & tesioners, gearbox and transmission, drive train, diffs, suspension, steering, fuel system, cooling system, electrics etc etc. There are more parts covered than I have time to list here Also included are recovery expenses, European cover (60 days) 5 days car hire, hotel expenses. £702 for a 60,000 mile 03 RS6 Avant, or £1339 for 24 months cover.

The guy you need to speak to there is Andrew Whittaker 0800 169 7880. He is the main coverholder at Lloyds, and a thoroughly decent chap. Tell him what you want & what you dont and I think he will accomodate you.

I hope this helps.

Roger
PS I have no connection with this company, it was just the best of a bunch I phoned in the last few weeks.

Sounds very good too me, the proof is in the pudding, for the 6 years I have been a service advisor I have not come across a decent warranty company that covers the items failed and or paid the dealers warranty rate!, some dealers won't invoice the outside companies so you have to pay the bill and then claim back.

Lumley Auto's was the best company I have dealt with in the past.

Snap! !

But going on what dodgeyroger said i think i could be giving Lloyds a ring soon.

Ps. I was quoted £2700 (ish, i forget) from Audi for a warranty if the cars not got one. This was on a May 2003 RS6 thats warranties just run out. OUCH! ! !

I personally would go for the Audi one, it has paid for itself many times over in just 3 months! I have a hunch that the cost of the Audi one will escalate in the next year though!

nzd3-4000 is the going rate for a "silver circle" manufacturer-backed warranty. sold with the car off the audi dealer lot, and price subject to negotiation at that time obviously. rs6 prices are softening so it would be a good time to make a deal at least here in nz....

I have a warranty direct warranty - It paid for the DRC failure at the end of last year. The cost of it covered the cost of the warranty alone - £850.

I have just (today) taken out a 'Warranty Direct' warranty for £690 with an extra month thrown in (13 months). I went for the franchised dealer option which means they will pay Audi rates for any work required. Unfortunately the second DRC circuit went last week!!

That's interesting I have just paid £925 for a further years warranty with Warranty Direct. I do have the LuxuryCare policy which gives me the maximum claim / total claim to the value of the vehicle.

I can't decide whether the warranty I have got is either a complete bargain, or I have missed something fundamental!.

Bought the car second hand from the dealer - so comes with a 12 month waranty as it is an "audi approved" vehicle. I was given the option at the time of purchase to extend this for one, two or three years. I chose three years and have paid £650 for all three years. The extension is exactly the same cover, with the same company, as the 1 year used car warranty, which has already coughed up for DRC and a new cd player. Even comes with Audi assist for all four years and the warranty is transferable to a new owner if I sell the car.

Seems like a bargain....

Thanks Dr B, after reading this I checked and found my policy was only the extra care (max claim/year £5000). I then called the salesperson I had dealt with and asked for details of the LuxuryCare policy. After promising to send the details I didn't recieve them and eventually called back. This time he upgraded me at no extra charge.

For those considering a policy, I originally got a quote online from Warranty Direct website. This came out at approx. £800 (can't remember exactly). I didn't buy at the time and the following day they called and offered the policy for £690.

Bit of a Bargain--- I think

Post by jonathanb » Thu Jan 03, 2008 12:57 pm

My audi warranty has just expired and the kind gentlemen offered to take over £1700 for its renewal. Thanks to this thread I have just purchased 13 months of warranty which would cover all the things that I have ever had to get fixed previously for £720 from Warrantydirect to the value of the car. Only thing it does not have is overseas assistance. The proof they of the pudding is in the eating (I am hopig not to have to use it as I have already had the DRC replaced)!!
