Does RS4 really turn heads when you drive it on the road???
RE: Turning heads
It does turn heads, I've had a few people now, take pictures on their camera phones, and when they were driving!
RE: Turning heads
Having owned both (in multiples - 3 of each B5 and B7) I have to say that the B5 turned many more heads...

RE: Turning heads
Many people I have spoken to have described the car as a wolf in sheeps clothing. That is one of the reasons I bought mine. I didn't want to get a 'scooby/evo' as it is often seen as a thug on wheels.
Its great not being obvious on the road. My neighbours told me yesterday they think the RS is the best alarm clock noise that they wake to every morning !

RE: Turning heads
I can tell you here in Sydney Australia. I've seen a lot of people look at my RS4. One guy nearly went off the road as he couldn't stop looking! LOL. Like most of you said, it's the one who know cars that look. I liked the "understated" look and the S button (even without when rpm>5000rpm) definitely wake up most sleepy drivers out there around you! It's very rare to see a RS4 on the road in Sydney. Personally I don't like getting attention as you never know you might get "unwelcome" attention amd that's the main reason I went for RS4 - sleeper of a beast!
Happy driving, gents.

RE: Turning heads
I suppose it is true that RS4 is a wolf with sheep skin, My wifes comments on the RS4 is... "whats the difference between an A4 and your car?"
i remember when i was in the show room and an old couple (around their 50s) was looking at it and saying "that looks like a sporty looking car". Even though they didn't know what the RS4 was but they did recognise that its little different to the ordinary A4.
I also like that the Ford and Mondeo man doesn't recognise us, but once you hit the Superman button.. the sound of V8 rumble unleashed Leaving them behind.

svassileou - I'm still a Caterham ownerIt will attract the attention of people who know about RS4s; even debadged, the flared wheelarches, exhausts, brake callipers and wing mirrors can be a bit of a giveaway to those who know. Having been a Caterham 7 owner for the last few years I have to say, however, that the Caterham attracted a lot more attention.

Yes the 7 does get more attention, but I can't get the family, luggage and the dog in the 7
Personally I really like the fact that most people don't know what the car is. Especially as I out-dragged an M3 the other day with the dog plastered against the back window

Interesting read this.
Although I don't own an RS4 (yet), I have often remarked that it's difficult to spot the difference between a B7 A4 s-line and an RS4 when on the move, unless of course you get a blast from the RS4 exhaust...
The B5 RS4 model is clearly distinguishable from the rest of the range, even the S4 doesn't have the same road presence.
Up close, as stated above, there are of course obvious signs (brakes, exhaust, front bumper, etc).
As most have said, one of the attractions of the S/RS brand is the generally understated looks - they are a stealth Q car. But that doesn't stop the head turning of a well informed enthusiast or admirer. Just the way it should be IMHO.

Those that know, know. And those that don't, don't. I drove alongside a crowd of boys in a Saxo with big wheels and noisey exhaust etc, all windows down etc and I heard one of them say (pointing to an older Scooby), look at that, beautiful car.....none of them gave the RS4 a second look. As they drove off a B5 std Audi drove alongside, the older guy put his passenger window down and said "nice car mate".
I like that. 4 cars lined up side by side in a car park, which is stolen last?
1) Scooby
2) Lancer Evo
3) M3
4) RS4
Perhaps even in that order....

RE: Turning heads
I really like the fact that, if you are a petrol head, you know what the car is and its always gets the nod of "git, i want one of them" but if you are not a car nut, its just a nice looking sensible Audi.
I use my car for work, always going to clients site and it works well, breaks the ice with the pertol heads, but does look OTT like a 911 or similar

I've got to say what a lovely noise the RS4 makes.
Having just got out my allroad earlier today an 07 plate Daytona grey saloon came past. The guy driving it was just letting it decelerate from about 3000 rpm to the T junction before pulling away.
What a glorious noise.
I would have turned and looked at it anyway but hearing it from the pavement I can understand why anyone with a little petrol in their veins would turn to look.

Re: RE: Turning heads
Is there really that much of a difference? I can BARELY hear any, and only when stationary in a car park. On the move I hear no difference.tomyeh wrote:I suppose it is true that RS4 is a wolf with sheep skin, My wifes comments on the RS4 is... "whats the difference between an A4 and your car?"

Back to the topic. Yes, people do notice it's something special, only men though. If you want chicks to notice you, nothing beats a Mini Cooper 'vert or a TRex or an exotic.
RE: Re: RE: Turning heads
My Car sounded very little different with the "S" mode on/off for the first 2K, there after the change is much more noticable, don't know why, turns more heads is "S" now.

Agreed audijohn - always drive mine in "S" now, much more fun!!
Like others on here, tend to get most remarks when fuelling (which happens quite often), and normally from blokes. Have also had the saxo driver type taking pictures behind or alongside me.
