I overtook the Stig!

Post by viperbl » Thu Aug 02, 2007 1:18 pm

So, top gear are over on the island doing an article for the mag ...

I happened to just bump in to the Stig who was driving the new Lamborghini Murcielago LP640.

He was fast, I mean fast ... most people go fast on the straights, but this man goes FAST round corners as well!!

At one point we both accelerated at the same time, I was equal with him until about 120, at which point I had to back off because corners where coming up. I dare say he would have started to pull away at 120+, but I was more than happy to match his acceleration to that kinda speed!

Near the end of the mountain mile there is a little bridge, he heisted in overtaking a car through it (because it is a wide car that lambo!) and I saw my opportunity ... bang, I am passed him! He then passed the other car and we where about equal distance apart until we stopped.

Had a chat with him, pleasant chap ... Did not see his face tho!
So, one up for the 1.9TDi Audi :P

If you browse here and click on "Looking North" in the middle of the map, you can see them pop up every so often ...

They have the Audi R8, Yellow lambo and 997 GT3, atom and a few others ...

This is the bungalo on the mountain ...

Shame, I thought your kit was a permanent install ready at the flick of a switch. I imagine you to be patrolling the island looking for stigs and stig-wannabees (not that I think about you much you understand).

Without saying too much on a public forum, some of you might remember what kind of bike I overtook on the mountain...

We had a chat and I agreed not to post such videos from the island...

I agreed with their reasons, they are trying hard to educate the younger generation about safe driving, and my videos possibly did not compliment this...

Sounds like double standards to me, they looked like they were enjoying it as much as you were, and as for education, I reckon you should be charging them for your roadcraft lesson.

I know what you mean ... and its true I am sure they do enjoy themselves as well, but I have also found them to be very fair out here, and being a small island I don't want to stir things.

I am not going to be here forever, but while I am I would rather enjoy the island without making enemies, there is enough fun to be had without the video!!

You will all just need to take my word for it! So when I beat Schumacher next week, of course there will be no video :P

Having been the subject of very close constant attention in my Escort Mexico days, I think that your approach is very wise. Mind you, I probably deserved it.
