If we had a one year run-up, like they did with the smoking ban, then there is no reason why all drivers would not be aware. TV and radio adverts, flyers in with tax disc reminders, general mailing to all licence holders etc etc.
Don't say I didn't warn you when you go to legally pass this woman on an inside lane...

Maureen's Welsh and they don't have motorways and dual carriageways in Wales (apart from a bit of the M4) do they?

I've never been there myself mind you.

You are not alone. It'll proably lead to more wan*ers staying in lane 2 and 3 because they know that someone can undertake. Lanes 2 and 3 will become even more congested and undertaking will become a fashionable form of slalom for nutters.

Not everything in the US translates well into the UK. I would prefer we lose this obsession with speeding first.

Signed this. No problem. Do check the highway code. If traffic in the right hand lane is slower, you are llowed to pass in the left hand lane. You just need to anticipate the odd cretin it upsets and avoid make an aggressive statement with your driving style in this situation. This usually is applied to a queue rather than the solitary oblivious vehicle.
Driving in California it works fine. Only problem is the narrow lanes they have (with wider cars !!).
