Extending Warrenty

Post by NigelJ » Fri Jul 18, 2003 4:41 pm

I've just been quoted £1185.00 to extend the warrenty on my RS4,which runs out in September, for 1 year!
I'm sure I've seen much lower figures from others here. Anyone know why this should be?

The figure I got quoted for my RS4 by Guildford Audi was £600 which apparently is based on the engine size rather than the model type. Think £1185 is taking the p***

My 3 years on the RS4 is up in Dec.
Audi Approved Warranties tell me I can only buy one years cover at a time for £765 and I need to go through a dealer. I am trying to find out the claim limits.

Of the direct suppliers the best I have come up with is Warranty Wise. Their Total cover option seems to have a claim limit of the value of the car, main dealer rates etc for £975 for four years! The annual option is £350. Their material looks professional and plausible.
The others I tried had limits of £5k per claim. Given the rarity and technology it is the massive disaster I fear and that may not cover it.
The difference in price seems anomalous.
I appreciate that you get nothing for nothing but the Audi price seems a bit stiff, like some of their parts prices. I recall being charged £26 each at service for plugs for my S2!!!
Any views on this as it cannot be an unusual problem?

Just paid £750 for a years extended, & peace of mind on my RS4. The car has been totally reliable in the last 3 years, but needed 2 new rear suspension bushes (21000 miles) to pass the MOT but this was done under warranty 3 years now & I'm still in love with it. I'm in the process of selling my car and I want the buyer to benefit from this so if you don't mind waiting till next week and I'll reveal all.

I also have to check with the dealer if it's okay to recommend this price further as I am sure alot of the people would call him and I don't want to get him into trouble after doing me a favour

Have you checked out warranty wise?

Cheers

I think Warrenty Wise is also known as Warrenty Holdings and if so I wouldn't touch with a barge pole because of the horror stories on Scoobynet that have recently been posted.
