Like a few others I have my name down for the new M3, but after seeing/sitting in and reading the reviews I think I might buy the Alpina instead (but go to birds for a LSD)!!! It's going to be 10 k cheaper too.

Get a RS4 Avant for all Day driving an a CSL for the Track Performance. If you don't need a track tool or the higher capacity of the Avant, get a Saloon. It is as fast as an M390 (Limo) which will be proven in a few months. The M392 Coupe will be slightly faster on the straight line, mostly above 120mph because better aerodynamics, less weight and RWD. But on the road, especially on narrow & bad tarmacs, the RS4 will be faster. Proven fact, because it is faster than then M560 with its RWD in the corners and ceramic brakes do a great job the RS4.

The most fun I ever had was driving a M346CSL, which is a different league then any RS4. Its compareable to a Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale, but much cheaper. Just replace the CSL seats to real fitting Recaros and you have the perfect fun coupe for the sunny days.

Jep, M3 or M5 is the model and 90 (new Limo) oder 46 (Coupe/Cabrio only) is the specific series, like E90/E91/E92 (new Coupe).

Its so funny on M3Post they are such knobs, they only quote usa rs4 kg, they not interested that there is a whole world out there, lol . its amazing that 2 years on the rs4 holds its own , but its not just performance for me, the interior is just stunning and exterior much more aggresive the new m3, its a monster, as far as looks its owns the m3 huge time!.. im thinking the m3 ers should be waiting for the rs5, muhahahahhahaha

I think Audiphiles will be in for a shock when the dust settles. Sure the reviews are dissapointing... Because people expected a Porsche GT3RS AND a Lexus LS460 rolled into one for the price of a well optioned 5 series. EVO had the old RS4 beaten by the E46 M3 and indications are, they really like the new one.

Regardless of what EVO prefer, the point is that BMW have never had such stiff competition from audi. The M3 would have to be monumentally good and an absolute classic to "beat" a car such as the RS4 which has proven itself multiple times over the last 2 years. The truth is the the new M3 just isn't that car and hence it will not have a landslide victory/hard-core following as the E46 M3 did.

Maybe not. However there are other cars waiting to snatch the crown. CTS-V, 159GTA, C63AMG, IS-F.
