Drove the S5 today

Post by audijohn » Thu Jul 19, 2007 2:53 pm

:( Erm................. well felt more like the A8 than anything, huge bonnet, no room for 6 footers in the rear seats, boot not quite as big as the RS4, no where near as powerfull as the RS4, just felt huge to drive, not for me.

Bummer, OK bring on the RS5. Be interesting also when some members here get a chance to drive the new M3 rather than relying on all the hype and motor journo's.

So does the S5 have the S4 engine in it? 340ish BHP? Not the FSI plans from the RS4? And is it possible the RS5 will have an NA motor - not a turbo motor as rumours seem to be?

I drove the S5 as well yesterday. I really liked the car. You should not see it as a supercar or compare it with the RS4. My B5 RS4 is much quicker but the S5 is sportive AND a lot of comfort in one. I would really like it as a daily drive.

It's the 4.2 V8, but with FSI (S4 doesn't have):

RS4 FSi engine but in a milder state of tune. Suits the car well IMHO.

Its a lot cheaper than an RS4, and this engine really complements the car, which is lighter than an RS4 too and hasnt as much in front of the front wheels.

I have drive it, have you?, if you have how did you think it shaped up to the RS, because economy wise the one I drove was horendous.
