i had P6000's on mine when i bought it just before xmas 18months ago, drove ok on the way back but that was during the day. as soon as the temp dropped at night it was like driving on marbles. damn thing was like a puppy on a leash. i run Avon zz3's now and i find them fine although my front right has also worn around the outside. i think i must like left handers more than rights

Running Conti Sport Contact 2's at the moment, will be going to Conti Sport Contact 3's when the 2's have worn out.

good choice! I got my Eagles for about £94each so thats not much different to what you were going to apy anyway, call around to get a good price and then get somewhere like kwikfit to price match

Mytyres.co.uk are selling GSD3's for £76.20 each. All you got to do is find a friendly tyre fitter who likes beer!

i got Dunlop Sport 9000's on mine and i have to say reckon they're the mut's. Had Avon ZZ3's and a couple of michelin something or other's but the Dunlops get my vote, way quieter and much better grip IMHO. This is on 18's though, had pirelli P-Zero's on my 17's and didnt like them much at all. Just my 2p

PS2's are probably the best all round tyre and they take forever to wear out. You should get at least 15,000 miles on them. But they are pricey.

I thought Id try some kumho ku31's on 225 40 18, and they are great and I find them just as grippy as ps2's in wet and dry, in fact extremely grippy in wet and dry. I cant comment on wear yet but a set of four set me back £300 delivered from taunton tyers.co.uk.

GSD3's are great especially if you can them from my tyres at £76.20 each. Id go with them at that price.

I heard a rumour that GSD3's have been discontinued (although there are still tyres in the supply chain). Any truth to this? If so, you may not want to kit your car out with these as replacing the fronts when they wear out (ahead of the rears) may be tricky.

Aparently, the Rosso P-Zeros grip does fade out nicely when on rears of a RWD car, and make for nice, predictable, easy to feel-it-coming-on oversteer. This should translate through to our cars also - a gradual understeer out towards complete loss of traction, rather than grip grip grip grip SLIIIIIIIIDEcrunch.

i've got p zero rossos on at the moment (came with car) and they have worn really fast (maybe its my driving!), had t1-r's on my mk2 and liked them but a couple of mates have run the eagles and rate them too, so thinking i'll probs give them a go when the time comes.

I've been a customer of Etyres for a while now and go through a lot of rubber as I've been doing about £40k a year in my Avant. Always gone for GSD3's in the past and absolutely loved them, even though I never had anything to compare them with. Each time I order GSD3's the guy at Etyres calls me back and says they can't get stock after all. I persist and he finally finds some at about £78 fitted. This time he came up completely blank and so I accepted 2 Avon ZZ3 rears at £4 cheaper. I'd just moved house and was feeling poor and a bit too hassled to be persistent.....

I bl00dy hate these ZZ3's and can't wait to get them off! At anything higher than 33PSI they are positively dangerous. Trial and error gave me pressures for Goodyear GSD3's of 36f36r, which I was very happy with.

Currently scrubbing out a set of P6000s which came with my Avant.

Having not bothered with anything more than a cursory tread depth and pressure check before, I looked in the boot again and found the spare to be an unused Bridgestone Potenza RE040 (I should check the date code, but it looks pretty new and has some fancy balance weights - main stealer?). Does anyone have any feedback on using a full set of these?

I ask for a couple of reasons. Firstly the front nearside wheel could do with refurbishment anyway (see second reason) so was planning to swap the spare wheel to that location (thus could potentially buy three more rather than a full set of 4). Secondly the side wall of the RE040 looks to have a more substantial moulding overhanging/protecting the rim than I have seen on other alternatives. Perhaps this might be useful as my wife's parallel parking is of the type which should really be reserved for hire cars (see first reason).

Obviously I won't take this route if they're not worth it.
