New M3 v RS4

I've noticed people have said the new M3 is cheaper than the RS4? How its being posted at £51k which is the same as an RS4?
From what I've read of the reviews it seems BMW have missed the mark in the dynamics of the car, too floppy and no feel. TG seemed to love it but more in spite of itself than because it was a superior car to the RS4 or even for that matter to the new C63 which was well reveiwed by those who drove it.
I have a thing about the engine though. no torque and massive fuel consumption. Is it really the technical marvel they claim? The Audi engine is more impressive in both respects and is probably going to be more reliable.
its a shame but not really surprising. They seem to get every other generation of the M3 wrong so the next one will be a cracker I'm sure.

I still think its going to be a cracker of an M3. Especially when the M DCT box comes next March. Just out of curiousity, what kind of MPG do you guys get from the RS4 in the city? My m3 gives me around 17mpg, and how do you get on with the manual in the london traffic?

Its horses for courses. For me, even if offered a new M3 at £25k - I'll stick with the Audi thanks. The Audi IMO is the thinking mans car. The BMW is and will always be the pimps ride and of course in later years, the chav's motor.

That's a bit harsh but I'm afraid very true IMO.

and very ignorant. I've seen my share of riced Audis driven by posers. A very large BMW demographic are true enthusiasts.

Lets not be silly here, this is an Audi site and we are naturally biased but most of us are aware that there are better cars out there. But lets look at the facts: 4wd is the way to go, Look at Porsche and Lambo for that. The M3 is approx 210bhp per wheel...the RS4 is about 105bhp per wheel and double the number to put the power down. In the real world in the dry the RS4 will be as quick as the M3 and IMO much better finished and much more practical. In the wet.........well best not to go there. Any 'normal' driver (as opposed to Michael Schumacher) will not be able to drive the M3 anywhere near its ability, but they will be able to think they are near the limit in the RS4 with the extra security. The M3 is full of new fangled technology, energy recovery in braking being a neat one. But I'm sure Audi will take much of this on board when it becomes reliable and makes a genuine difference. Audi have Quattro, which has by and large remained unchanged for the last 40 years....
The new M3 V8 is a variant on the the F1 V10 engine and built in the same factory, are you honestly saying that Ferrari either do not have or could not pull an engine off the shelf...?

Ferrari seems to think that 325hp per wheel is perfectly fine. Lambo uses AWD because they can't build a decent chassis. A rwd Lambo would be a death trap while Ferrari makes it work. At 8/10ths a properly set up RWD car is as safe to drive as an AWD and beyond that you should really be on track.

Putting 5 or 6 Snooker balls in your mouth is impressive too, but is it worth anything or even useful?

I'm guessing you've already got your RS4 up for sale so you can switch to the new M3 asap to fit in with your user name

Actually looking for an RS4 Avant......but it's going to be left-hand drive though.

I can honestly say the Audi RS4 is worth £4,000 more because in the twisty bits, it's four grand more car and the interior is second to none. It easily outclasses the M3.

eh? The M3 coupe is £51k (4 door may be £500 more?), so was the RS4 saloon

Russian, I have owned 2 M3's and an M5 in the past so Im not biased towards Audi's, but the RS4 is better in every respect apart from going sideways (WHICH I ADMIT IS MORE FUN) !!!!!!!!

Well, it better be better. It's 6 years younger, engine is 10 years younger and two generation model newer. Extra liter and two cylinders and 8 piston brakes. Yet it manages not to be decisive as the EVO comparo proved.
