Turbo lifespan
64k and nearly 7 years old (if age has anything to do with it)
Regular oil changes with quality (usually 5W40) fully synthetic, and careful attention to warm-up/cool-down regime since I had it at 24k miles.
The turbos are as noisy as the day I bought it, nearly 3 years ago, but nothing out of the ordinary.

102k x-reg, car had 2 dead DVs and a dead MAF when I got it...for how long nobody knows!
re-mapped, precats gutted, RS4 intercoolers at 90k.
dead EGT sensor now, so looking to get that sorted ASAP
started to hear a scarey metallic 'tinking' noise from about 3k in 2nd gear ahhhhhhh hoping its EGT related or something though!!!

Re: RE: Turbo lifespan
the car has not got 125k it has 114k ecu visible and they do not lie the quote was an estimation on phills part but i have 2 cars and a bike so mileage is split up his estimation did not take my other veichles into account this needed clarifing cheers paulphilipwalker wrote:My old S4 still going strong at 125k remapped at 90k.
Oil changes every 5k from 70k
Hey guys, this isn't looking very encouraging as a basis for me convincing the Mrs that my car needs some serious "routine maintenance" this summer (in the form of K04s), just to be on the safe side...
On a serious note, it seems that in many cases those K03s really can keep puffing their little hearts out for some time if properly cared for

131,000 on what i believe are the originals, car owned since 116,000 with quality oil changes at 5k intervals, full Audi history prior to that. i would imagine the previous use was mainly motorways as it was company owned. Turbos up to press are exceptionally quiet in my opinion; a testament to the previous owners service regime.
oooops, just realised it's almost due another change

Yes, maybe Paul, possibly in conjunction with one of S4TAN's patented N75 mods which winds the boost up off the gauge...

So back on topic, taking on board DavidT's earlier point about the turbos' lifespan being dependent upon a whole range of factors, this little survey does nevertheless seem to disprove the myth that the baby K03s can go pop at any time...
